I've got an order just about ready to submit, and a Griot's polisher is on the list. I've seen at least a few of you talk about the backing plate not being great, so I'm wondering if I should just include a new plate in the order and not even deal with the one that comes with it. Thoughts?

need a new one anyways if you plan on using 5.5" pads as the griots bp is for 6" pads.

Keep the stock backing plate and order 6.5" pads. You'll gain nothing by switching to a 5.5" pad IMO

Now that I saved you money order those 6.5" Surbufs!

I'm gonna use 6.5's. I've just seen a couple people suggest the flat pads tend to spin out on the Griot's plate.

The griots garage is very stiff. Looks like hard plastic. Didn't really take a close look at mine bc I went with 5 inch bp. Extremely durable and I sometime have a hard time removing the pads from the backing plate.

They didn't know what they were talking about. Order 6.5 Flats and those Surbufs I keep telling you about ;)

Been using the stock plate for 5 years no problem...

I'm gonna try the stock one and see what happens. Most reviews are good so I'll trust it.
