First off, ill get my Bias out of the way. I love Griots products. While they dont make up most of my detailing shelf these days, they are the 1st brand I think of when a friend or family members asks "whats a good product i can get from the store" With that said:
This is my initial thread for the Griots Ceramic Glass coating. This will cover initial application and rain behavior.
Price:
This has to be the cheapest ceramic glass coating I've used by volume. For 20 dollars you get something like 8 ounces of it, along with a micro suede applicator pad (the good kind that has the retention points for the cloths) There is definitely enough to do several cars.
Application:
Application falls into the medium category for me. I dont count the glass prep because you should do that with any glass coating. Something like adams Glass coating is apply and wipe off, single layer, no waiting. Id say thats Easy
Something like Gtechniq that requires multiple overlaping passes and using a special "residue remover" i put in the difficult class.
Griots, falls in the middle. It requires 2 layers, separated by 10 minutes, followed by a 10 minute cure. (if you use the method described in the video)
Wipe off is easy once cured, even in high humidity. Ive seen reviews about it being difficult, but most of those followed the box steps and added an extra layer
I applied using cross hatch.
Water Behavior
Wow, I dont know if Ive ever something fling water off my windshield like this. mind you ive only had one day of rain to test, but about 200 miles yesterday and barely used the wipers at all.
Note:
This is a very fresh coating, so these are only initial impressions. I was initially very impressed with the last glass coating until it completely clogged with pollen, so I will try to do an update in a few months.
