I purchased a 6" da from Griots in 2007. I have used it steadily over the years, and although I have several other machines, this GG6 has been my go to machine.

The old style backing plate finally wore out, so I called Griots customer service to hopefully get a 5" backing plate for this older generation machine. The rep looked up my order, and then said to send my old machine back to them, and they would replace it. IT COST ME NOTHING, NADA, ZIP, and within a few days, my newest generation GG6 arrived.

It is quite an improvement on the older generation machine, but their customer loyalty needs no improvement. I can't describe my amazement at what an outstanding company this is.

If you are ever in the position you need to make a choice between some other brand, or Griots, remember this. They truly care about their customers, and back it up with one helluva warranty.

Probably the best in the business - period.

They really are amazing to their customers and they make some pretty damn good products as well.

Customer satisfaction is such a rare attitude in todays world. Lots of companies preach it, but rarely practice it.

The very reason I am a loyal customer to Autogeek is their total commitment to their customers. We all are very fortunate to have suppliers like Autogeek.
So few companies today give a rats ass about their customers, but those of us that detail cars, whether as a hobby or a business, can count on Autogeek to be there for us.

AG provides us with this forum, moderated by the best teacher in the business. One of the many perks of Geekdom. They support us, and we need to support them.

Just by doing this they probably sold a few more units, more than making up for the cost of sending you a new one. You cannot buy this kind of advertising. Kudos to Griots for taking care of you.

Damn, my backing plate split and I had to buy a new one from them. Now I wish I had as good of an experience as you.

Good lesson to learn.

Agreed 100%

As awesome as rangers post is, it doesn't surprise me. Griot's has never failed to amaze me with either their products or customer service.

AG/Mckee's products and CS are top notch as well.

Come to think of it, that's probably why 85-90% of my detailing products bear those two logos.............:dblthumb2:

This is great to read. So glad I bought a GG6 to start rather than something else. I also upgraded to the boss plate. I can't say it doesn't any better job, but I believe it keeps my pads cooler.

....and let me second that with the experience I had last week. My Gen 3 GG6 developed a bad vibration making it unbearable to use for more than 10 minutes. I swapped out the BP and CW and still had the bad vibration. Sent it back and within 10 days had a brand new one. Cannot beat that customer service.

It's just now setting in on me how incredibly... reassuring? This policy of theirs is.

To be able to send a darn tool back, and get a brand new one in return? Really? No hassles?

That friend of mine who sent twelve back in three years... No problems returning them to Griot's.

I would say It's insane, but I can see it really works for them, and I not only appreciate that, I sort of marvel at it. This is where they create loyalty. I also offer a guarantee on my work, and experience a similar degree of loyalty, thankfully.

Griot's will never lose with this policy.

Imagine if other companies carried this philosophy.

Anyways... I'm rambling.

My mind is blown.

Maybe I should've insisted on sending the whole polisher back. Maybe then I would've gotten a replacement backing plate

Yeah, it's sweet to ask a question, or even have a criticism/complaint, and have a response (not a robo one, but from a real live human) in less than 24 hours offering anything they can to make it right.

Mind blowing is not really an exaggeration when it comes to Griot's CS. Just a fact.

Maybe, but I believe It's assumed that consumables are going to go through a normal wear sequence.

I just had a backing plate die on me last Saturday. It was the first one I got with my PC back in 2011. It lasted so long because I was always using my Dynabrade or 3M 20206, but that old plate was my favorite. Loved that thing.

It made it through the job though. The LC plate was on standby just in case though.

I'm making a display of the old plate. I wish I still had the green, blue, and red Hex Logic pads I started my serious detailing with back in 2013. Someone actually bought those things off eBay, in 2016, and they were toasted!

I didn't use the polisher/plate much since I got it. I just think the Florida heat here made it crack. I wish plates were made out of better material than that yellow foamy stuff.

Did you have an older generation machine with the older style backing plate? Did you buy it from Griots or from a reseller?

Bill

Hi Bill

Yes it's the older machine with the older plate. The plate they sold me is a different color. I got my polisher from Griots

Had to send my GG6 in back in July. I had a brand new machine at my door in 9 days. Only had to pay the cost of shipping the unit to the repair center.

I would just say if anyone's backing plate goes, be prepared to have to buy a new one. My experience with Gilmour was much better. I had a foam gun for a little over a year that stopped working. I contacted them and they sent me a new mechanism free of charge.
