Which one would you recommend for a beginner? Which one get's the job done faster?

Either DA polisher would work fine. The Griot's has more power, but I use the Porter Cable.

I've had the 1st generation Porter Cable 7424 for 14 years without an issue...:props:

I would go with the Porter cable, No polisher would get the job done faster, its improvement of technique that gets the job done faster, If you want another option to compare the pc with, I would go with the meguiars, the two are very good for beginners.
You will also need cutting and finishing pads

The PC 7424XP has been serving me quite well. Ditto on the faster issue, its not the polisher that gets the job done faster, its technique. And truly polishing a car to a show car finish is not something to be done with speed.

I just picked up the PC 7424XP and love it. I own many power tools and always try to buy quality brand name products. Makita, Dewalt, Milwaukee, Porter Cable, Bosch, Delta, Etc. are all names I trust. I'm sure that the other DA polishers are great tools, but I like the solid quality feel of the Porter Cable. Good luck.

If youre a beggiber just like me get the griots please. It will not dissapoint you at all. Just order it.

The Griot comes with spare brushes, a 6" backing plate, has more power than the PC and has a lifetime warranty.:nomore:

I bought the Griots and was surprised at the spare brushes that came. Very good addition to the package. I bought it because of the warranty and it has more power. The 6 inch backing plate is great, I may order more as it seems to fit the 6.5 inch pads much better. If you are concerned because it will be your fist one, don't be go with the power and the warranty. In the end you will be glad you did.

if it were my choice.. it would be either the GG6 or G110v2. although.. the new 3D/HD DA looks very promising. many well respected detailers have used it and have good things to say about it as well and i look forward to hearing some more reviews/thoughts on it...

I started out with the GG6 and like it and have no regrets. I do Recomend you buy a 5" backing plate and 5.5" pads with any of the DA's. The GG6 does have more power than the PC/XP and with the above mentioned learned technique will correct faster (because it will turn the pads with more pressure applied) than a PC/XP. That said they are all VERY good tools and I really don't think you can make a bad choice.

This is true Al, but they are tied up with 3D which may or may not make it one sided.

maybe so or maybe not, but... i'm sure they would give an honest opinion and that's why i look forward to hearing some more reviews on it from many different people as well. i've tried many different product lines over the years even many that are sold on here, and 3D/HD products IME work well and are reasonably priced. the nice thing about them is they listen and try to keep improving on their products and their discussion board is open. at the moment if i didn't already have the GG6, i would opt for the G110v2 and the PCXP would be my last choice which isn't a bad thing overall, just preference...

Has not been shipped as yet. Said to be heavier and louder than the Griot and the amps and watts are less than the Griot. Still waiting to see what kind of warranty.
i have not seen one review on the hd polisher

All three DA Polishers that use the free floating spindle bearing assemble will get the job done in about the same time, that is to say, if you have a neglected car and start at 8:00am in the morning, you're not going to finish hours faster using one over the other because of the tool.

Like mentioned, perfecting your technique and matching the optimum pad and product for the job will be more important than the brand of tool.

The Porter Cable has the longest time-proven history of reliability, in 30 more years or so the others will catch up. I've used them all and always have everyone that attends any type of paint polishing class here try them all out and let them make up their own mind.
