Griots G9 stopped on me part way through polish :(

Wanted to chime in and add my experience, my G15 polisher died on me in the middle of a detail a few weeks back. Sent it back to Griot's, cost me $51 to ship it to them (I'm in the US and was shipping from AZ to IN), been waiting and heard nothing back. Called them today for an update as the person I spoke with previously said the replacement should ship out last Friday, today they said they were waiting on payment (???) and charged me another $50 because apparently they're replacing it with a newer model so I have to pay the difference and cover their $13 shipping fee as well.

I expected that I'd probably have to pay the initial shipping, but I don't appreciate the fact that no one contacted me and they would have just sat on it for god knows how long if I hadn't reached out, and the added costs that were never mentioned up front or during my first conversation with the representative who told me it was just a matter of checking in the failed unit and shipping out the replacement. I think Flash makes a good point and will likely take my business elsewhere moving forward.
The G15 is still an active product for them that I can see? Why would they 'upgrade it' instead of replacing it with another G15? Why would they charge return delivery on a warranty item? :/ I'd speak to them about it more if I was you, hopefully they can resolve it better...

The way it was explained to me is that my G15 was a "first-gen" model and the second generation version is more $$ and has improved features, hence the upcharge. Agreed though, I will definitely be giving them a follow-up call.

They ended up taking off the shipping charges. I did get almost 10 years out of the first one as well, so I'm good with how it panned out.
