as many of you guys know i am a fan of Griot's Garage, and when Jeff Brown told me i MUST get my hands on some Poly Wax i definitely listened, (Jeff is just as passionate and crazy as us forum guys)

Poly Wax was made for some serious durability, it was made not only to compete with the top Synthetic Waxes or Sealants but to beat them (such as, power lock, jet seal, ultimate wax) this wax can last 8 months+ i have had it on my personal car with one coat for 4 months already and still very hydrophobic and beading and sheeting water like crazy! (other people i have spoke to has had on there cars 8 months+)

so lets take a look at it shall we?

Product Info: Poly Wax is all Synthetic, it features Amino Functional Silocone cross linking polymers
(AFS) is a film former that establishes a sacrificial barrier unlike anything a natural wax would deliver)

(24 Hour is the full cure time)

Here is what it looks like when you get your paws on this awesome stuff!

BOX CONTENTS

Inside the Kit you will get a red foam UFO applicator pad, and a really nice plus 9x9 PFM towel

(this is the highest quality towel offered in a wax kit that you can buy over the counter
(the black towel with the red border is not included)

here is a better look of the towel that is included

Now you can see why they are 9x9 they fit your hand perfectly, making the wax removal smooth and easy.

its time to start the application process!

(I LOVE the domed cap that griots offers on there products it makes it so easy to prime the pad without getting your hands dirty)

after a few dots i massaged it into the applicator making the pads face 100% covered.

i then added some dots to start my panel!

i spread out my wax across the panel to ensure even coverage!

(a little goes a long way with this product)

this was after i massaged it into the paint of my truck.

after i let the wax sit for about 30 mins, it was time to remove.

this is what the finish looked like after i effortlessly wiped off the wax

and this is what i got!

(Please note that this car has not been polished or detailed since 2014, i am the second owner, and the first owner was a regular at the swirl-o-matic, and it seems like these days latley im too busy making everyone elses cars shiny!)

the shine and glow it left behindIm the MAN

I know what your thinking, Ok Joe it made your swirled out truck look nice and glossy, but how is the protection? after i waited 24 hours to cure i sprayed some water just to show you fine folks!

I also did a "Drying" test, i got a 16x16 Plush Jr towel and dragged it across the hood to see how easy the drying process would be after the application

that is what i got! very little water was left after a fully saturated surface, this stuff is the real deal, if anyone knows me they know that i am only a fan of products that work and make my life easy,
and the fact that you can buy it over the counter is even more amazing, (although you should always support autogeek and you will be able to get it on sale)

so thats pretty much it i highly recommend this product, i used it on a black ZR1 this winter, i still maintain, and it is still beading and sheeting water like the day after i applied it!

i applied the product by hand because of the applicator it comes with, i actually prefer applying by machine, its a smoother process, and you actually use less product.

APPLICATION TIPS: FROM GRIOT'S GARAGE

Dry Time: around 30 mins, (temp and humidity will alter) in cool temps you should wait a little longer.

Machine Application:
Low speed on a 8mm DA, (2-3) on Griots 6 inch (3-4) on PC (do not apply via boss or long throw orbital)

Cure Time:
24 Hours (a second coat following 24 hours can improve durability)

definitely add this to your order next time!

Nice review, Joe!!

Griot's is coming up with some nice stuff. Are they going to phase out their existing sealant? I think it was called "PaintvSealant".

joe, thanks for the review much appreciated! any chance you can do a short of the water sheeting behavior as well as beading just for sh!tz and giggles?

I never tried there "paint sealant" but i am more then sure , this one was made to top it. Just like the boss creams were made to top the griots polish line. I will get more info on it for sure tho.

thanks for the review.....got a few Griots products on the shelf......may have to add this one too

Did you see much correction of swirls with this product?

This product has zero correcting capabilities, it is a pure wax/sealant

It will just protect your car, and add some shine.

Will not fix any swirls or scratches

Have you tested the longevity of this compared to the Boss Finishing Sealant? Based on your experience with both, what are some of the differences between them? [based on protection/durability alone]

The BOSS Finishing Sealant has some correction abilities dependant on your pad selection, not a lot but it's not designed for it either, just a finial little polish to go with the sealant. Great stuff!!

My question is about the difference in protection/durability between this Poly Wax and the Boss Finishing Sealant.

Eldorado2k....there was a thread somewhere here on AGO I believe where some from Griot's indicated that the Polywax has greater durability. Do a search on Polywax and I am pretty sure you'll find that thread.

Joe--thanks for the great review!!! How is the self cleaning ability of Poly Wax?? One of the attributes that has amazed me about FK1000p is it's ability to self clean--after a rain storm the car looks like it was just washed and I'm curious as to how Poly Wax compares. The only draw back to FK1000p is I find paste waxes a pain to apply and Poly Wax sure looks easy.

Actually Finishing Sealant can remove 2500 sanding grit marks.

Its not just a light polish, its a ALL IN ONE

Designed to compete with the top ALL IN ONES on the market.

If you pair finishing sealant with a cutting pad, you will get amazing results.

I would compare Finishing Sealant to HD Speed , or menzerna 3 in 1.

Those 4 Boss Creams make you so versatile.

You can seriously tackle any paint system with those 4 polishes.

Any protection in a ALL IN ONE is going to lack compared to a designated wax/sealant

Poly wax is all synthetic, and is designed for 8 months + durability

I personally have had it on my daily driver for over 4 months (that stays outside no garage)

And it still beads and sheets water like crazy.

As far as the longevity of Finishing Sealant, that is hard for me to answer in my personal experiences.

The ALL IN ONE jobs i did with Finishing Sealant, i havent maintained them.

My guess you can expect a couple months maybe.

I can be wrong, that is my guess, i will find out for sure, from the man who designed the polish.

I will do a video shortly on the capablities of Finishing Sealant keep an eye out for it.

But get your hands on Poly Wax its great stuff i have one coat on my Jeep and its holding up great.

There is a photo from detail fest, Jeff did that with the G15, Finishing Sealant. This was a BMW and it was hammered.
