I'd like to replace my Meg's G100 (PC 7424) with one of the newer, more powerful d/a polishers. The motor specs make me lean towards the Griot's product, but the PC has a good reputation for ruggedness and durability where the Griot's unit is a little more of an unknown quantity in that regard since it's so new.

Does anyone have any hands-on experience with both the 7424xp and the Griot's polisher that can give an opinion on which actually does a better job of paint correction? I read Mike Phililp's comparison, but it was rather brief and non-commital. I know for serious correction a rotary is the way to go, but I'm not ready to take that plunge yet.

Anyone know of any serious failures with either machine?

If you had to choose between the two, what would you base your decision on?

Thanks for your help.

You can't go wrong with either choice. Me personally went with the PC 7424XP due to a flawless experience with my PC 7336 which has never failed me yet.

Mike is working on a Wolfgang Project with the flex and a Griot's that should be posed latter this week. Not sure what kind of information might be in it but worth a wait for a couple days for a read.

I personally went with the New Griot's and have not been disappointed at all. Every thing I read on the PC says to use 5.5" pads even the new XP most people say this, I have been using the 6.5" pads on the Griot and never a problem, even with wet loaded pads or using extreme pressure it seems to have the power to keep them spinning. The Griot Warranty is better (IMO) too. The redesigned Xp and the Griot are both about the same age so I don't think there is much of a track record on either. I don't think either of the old machines and any real issues, other than most felt the Griot was way under powered but no more. Like rwisejr said, I don't think you can go wrong with either machine, both are awesome tools.

The Griot's gets my vote, I own one and would not trade for an XP....my .02:buffing:

I would pickup the Griots machine based upon reviews from Jason and Mike. It sounds like it really offer a bit more power in same price range.
