I've seen some praise being heaped on the Griot's Paint Prep of late so yesterday evening after I washed my car I figured I'd use the remaining 1/5 of the bottle of Paint Prep that I had to strip off the Griot's Sealant from my car so I could put a coat of Wolfgang Deep Sealant 3.0 (WGDS) on it. I previously tested a sample of the WGDS on the hood of my car and it definitely pops more than the rest of the car, so I've been looking for a chance to coat the entire car with it.

Anyways, after washing I applied and used the Paint Prep as instructed on the back of the bottle. While it seemed to do a decent job of stripping the panels that had previously been sealed with Griot's Sealant, the hood that was covered with the WGDS was not stripped one bit! I re-applied the Paint Prep on the hood a second time, and again it would not strip it. Water was beading tightly and running off the hood as if it had been sealed one week ago.

I remembered back to the first time I used the Griot's Paint Prep on my Mom's semi-neglected G35 several months back and Paint Prep did the job, but it seemed to use up an awful lot of the bottle to get results and this was on a finish that probably didn't have much sealant/wax on it. Using Paint Prep last night confirmed to me that I don't believe this is a product worth spending $16 on. Save your time and money and just wash with Dawn or some other soap that will effectively strip LSP.

Oh, and +1 for WGDS as it apparently is quite durable and it looks absolutely fantastic on my flame red SRT-4 Neon.
