Griots Question

Just got a new Griots polisher and was wondering what the 2 little connector things are that come in the baggie. I got the wrench, the allen wrench and 2 little connector thingies that i have no clue what to do with.
 
They are extra electrical brushes should your ever wear out. Store them away in case you need them someday.
 
How will i know if they wear out? Sorry but i have no clue.:confused:
