So who makes the 'best' grit guards and washboards? I see the actual gritguard brand has both (9.99 for the grit guard and 12.99 for combo washboard/gritguard) but does the Detail Guardz design offer better separation on the guard (for 17.95) and does their washboard (14.95 washboard only) make my mitt cleaner?

What say you?

After all the discussion here, I did buy the Detail Guardz stuff, but I haven't gotten to try it yet. The Mitt Slide also has the "venturi shaped" openings, as someone called them, on the lower part; that one I only used once so I don't really have any feedback on it, other than it is one piece, which is nice and why I bought it.

It may be that the others are "better" than the Grit Guard, it also may be that we are splitting hairs with this stuff, which of course is the forum norm.

Detail Guards get my vote. Had the Grid Guard with the wash board and it kept coming off

Yeah detail gaurd far superior design to GG. Washboard is better and like that it’s on side wall leaving you more space.

Mitt slide is nice and I like it for rinseless. The don’t do 2 buckets anymore (1 buckets). I still like Detail Gaurdz design better as leaves more room in bucket.

Is Detail Guardz the best guards out right now or is there something else I should be considering? I tried looking for more but really only found these 2 brands and one from chemical guys (🤣)

I have the Detail Guardz with the scrub wall. Never tried the mitt slide but the two piece( scrub wall/bottom piece) works to my advantage as I use my 2 buckets to store my drying towels, glass towels, wheel towels, wash mitts, rinseless sponge. So the one piece sloped mitt slide would not work for me.

But the venturi style is definitely the way to go and their performance is superior.

Also i would recommend the wash board. I have recently been converted to using the washboard as i included a rinse bucket with my rinseless washes. I was suprised how much dirt was left behind in the rinse water. Prior to using the rinse bucket all that dirt was going back into the rinseless wash solution.

I used the mitt slide again. That thing is amazing for rinseless sponge because of the curve it has more surface space and I can feel it separating the foam fingers. One slide and it’s good. Will be only gaurd I use from now on.

Just not sure if it traps dirt on the bottom like the dirt lock but I’ll have both in my arsenal

What kind of sponge are you using?

I'm on the fence about buying one. I do a Gary Dean wash but I use a wash mitt in some areas.

I to was scared of the sponge. Gary Dean convert (10 rags in bucket). I use the Big Red Sponge and Ultra Black. I prefer the BRS

I’d go with the ultra safe sponge from TRC. Try it you’ll like it.

If lower rockers real dirty I still Gary Dean there.
