Well I tried out GTechniq C4 trim restorer yesterday and I was very impressed.

Now my problem....How long does the product need to cure? I applied it to my girlfriends Equinox and within an hour it started pouring! And now there are some water spot stains on the some of the plastic.

Just curious if anyone happens to know what the proper cure time is for it before it can get wet or be topped with another coat.

Obviously I plan on re-doing the areas that have the spotting.

I was a little peeved that after I spent the day polishing out her car, fixing her headlights, and restoring all the trim that it would just open up and pour...just seems to be the way it is sometimes!

I'm sure Rob from Gtechniq will chime in with an exact time period, but the trim I restored in this article got wet about three hours after I applied C4 and there was no spotting.

Did you thoroughly clean the trim first and give it an IPA wipe down?

The trim was cleaned with apc and then cleaned with ipa.

It was definitely within an hour of applying it and it down poured. This morning it didn't look as bad as when I looked at it last night, but I think the rain did wash some of it off.

I dunno, I was doing some the other day and it poured on it no more than 15 minutes after I stopped, didn't seem to have any ill effect.

Should clarify: Will it only protect like Opti-Seal OR restore color to black/darker grey of faded plastic trim AND protect for 2 years?

It will restore the color on faded trim, on trim that is already in good shape it will protect and keep it at its current state.
