Gtecniq Ceramic Coating Maintenance?

Hello! So I have had the CSL and EXO V3 on my car for about 2 years now. I has held up really well. I am just now starting to see some light light swirls on the paint/coating. I am wanting to polish them out. I am going to start with Menzerna SF 3400 with a black pad on speed 3 on the Boss21. Starting off very light .. but I know it has a lot of oils in it.

My question isn't about how to do it .. but what to do after, to remove the oils. I am a little weary about using something like Panel wipe or Eraser to remove the oils. I don't think it will remove my coating... just not wanting to weaken it any more than I have to.

Wanting to remove the oils to apply the C2v3 ... or I might apply EXO V4 on the whole thing again ... I'm not real sure yet. I'm not sure if I can prep the paint/coating right to do the EXO.

Won't the polish remove the coating? I know the panel wipe / eraser won't remove/weaken the coating.

A light polish shouldn't remove a two layer 5 year 9h coating. An aggressive compound with an aggressive pad I would imagine would damage it for sure.

Any abrasive polish will impact the coating. At 2 years it has already degraded on its own. Not to mention that the coating is a thin layer in the grand scheme of things.

It does not take much to remove a coating.

If you don’t want to impact it then Essence Plus would be an option as it’s a non abrasive polish with minor filling capabilities.

Yep. Polishing will damage it if not remove it completelly. Things you cannot do on a coated vehicle:
- Mechanical decontamination (Clay bar, clay alternatives)
- Polishing
- Compounding
- Wet sanding

I thought claying was OK, or would only cause minor degradation (except for the small pits left where contaminants are removed by the clay).

yes a light clay is ok. I think the problem here is that not all ceramic coatings are equal. Some might be more damaged from clay or polishing than others. I know that I lightly polished part of my hood not long ago ... and the coating is still there, it didnt remove it. But mine is also Gtechnic CSL with EXO. Not some one year or 6 month coating. Which I'm sure makes a difference.
