ive applied Gyeon leather shield October 2020 on the leather of my interior. the durability is expected to be somewhere around a year or so. how do I know when I need to reapply and how do I re apply? is the removal of the bottom coating necessary or should I just clean with an apc and then apply a new layer?

Keep it clean and it will last quite a bit of time. Abrasion is what will remove it and you will notice the slickness degrade over time. So it is still on your seat unless you were rubbing on your seat for no apparent reason. You could check the water behavior to see if it has diminished in that aspect.

You can clean, wipe off the residue with a damp towel from whatever cleaner you use and then re-coat. You could also maintain it with their leather coat as well every so often.

I use car pro Perl as a topper for leather shield as a sacrificial layer. Seems to be working out ok.

I assume you mean leather coat? Yeah can be used as a topper on Shield.

I'm actually out of that product but thought it was simply called Gyeon Leather. I wanted Gyeon Shield but the owner of this detail shop at a cars and coffee MadMerc and I used to go to talked me out it. Said it was applied by a pro and to just use Gyeon Leather which is called Leather Coat, my bad

Sorry to hear that. I used Perl over Cquartz leather and it attracted more dirt than untapped. That was the last time I used Perl on leather.

Gyeon Leather Coat over Leather Shield works very well.

That’s odd I’ve been using Perl on my interior(everything) and it’s been holding up super well haven’t noticed any dirt sticking to anything and the maintenance wipedown is effortless. Speaking of interior is there an alternative to meguiars interior quick detailer d149?
