Hi all,

Let me preface this by saying I am reviewing this from a personal use perspective and not as a pro detailer. I Detail my cars for fun. I have used a lot of products over the years and have a reasonable understanding of what most things will do.

I knew it was going to snow recently, and I applied quick beads on my relatively unprotected car (had some quick detailer based protection on it) to give it something extra for the salt.

I will caveat this with the fact that I applied it under 50* F It was well above freezing at the time but probably not optimal car wash weather. Neither Gyeons website or the bottle mention a minimum application temp, but i want it stated for full transparency.

First impressions
The product went on well (aside from a leaky sprayer coating my hands). It really is as easy as spray on rinse off. The beading is immediate, if not spectacular. The application couldn't be easier. There is no strong smell to speak of (i prefer nice smells, some dont). It does use more product than say a drying aid based coating.

Application:
Easy. Spray on while the car is wet, rinse it off. Cant say much more.

Durability:
This is where I take some issue. My car had recently been paint corrected. I washed it with a good soap and rinsed all residue off before applying. The paint should have been very receptive. When i washed the car a week later, after a local storm, with a soap designed to remove grime and salt (slightly basic) there was very little protection left. The soap is designed for ceramics, and ive used it over Quick detailer protectants without issue. The soap itself was even able to remove a good bit of the water beading. Areas that had good hydrophobic on the initial rinse were flat after the wash.

For the price point the durability leaves a bit to be desired. I know there was salt on the road, but ive had similarly priced spray coatings (griots ceramic 3 in 1) used as drying aids handle multiple salt exposures without much issue. With that said, its incredibly easy to apply, and can easily be added as an every wash topper.

*Had some quick detailer on it for protection

If I were a betting man, that's where I would say your problem is

I apply ceramic coatings all the time in 30+ degree weather
Imo the temp doesn't effect it adhering to the paint
You just have to wait longer for it to Flash

I should also add that I've never used any of the products that you mentioned

I've only use DP's Hydro Wet Seal and one from another brand I can't remember. In both cases, I don't recall durability being more than a week or two in good conditions, let alone in harsh winter conditions.

I don't think these types of products were ever designed for lost lasting durability. They are so easy to use you simply apply it every week or two when you wash the car. This is great if you live in a mild climate. Somewhere with harsher weather and you can't wash frequently...not so much.

The best use I found for spray-on/rinse-off sealants is for wheels. The spray gets a bit of sealant into every tight corner of the wheel with very little effort. The down side is durability and the need for frequent application.

I guess the other good thing about that is it gets on the calipers, etc.? I had a sample bottle of HydrO2, and tried it, but I never got into using it. Now that I'm thinking about it, and since this subject came up in another thread, it had an expiration date on it, and IIRC the last time I used it, it didn't seem to work at all, so maybe I decided it wasn't worth buying more because it would go bad before I would use it. This was some years ago.

Its supposed to work as a topper for other coatings. But that is possible.

Unless stated otherwise, anything left behind after using a detail spray or quick detailer will simply wash off, be that from rain or a contact wash. As such, I highly doubt having previously used a product like that would have hampered your longevity of Wet Coat.

I like Wet Coat, mostly for wheels but also as an occasional topper to an existing sealant or coating.

The new 'coating' won't adhere to a slick surface
Try washing (polishing would be even better) that off with a Dawn / APC solution
Let this solution 'almost' dry to the paint before rinsing
(you may have to do this a few times)

An alternative way would be a touchless car wash (they use very harsh chemicals to get your car clean) A few trips through there should do the trick
What you want to see is the water laying flat on your paint on the final rinse
If it's beading at all you will have problems

Good luck. Stay in touch 👍
