This is something I have always wondered and honestly have never paid much attention to. If you detail a car that has a few hail dents, nothing major just a few here and there on top of the hood. When finished will the dents be highlighted?

Reason I ask is I have a dark green 99 explorer that sometime in its life received a few hail dents. Not very many and kind of hard to see unless you're looking. The paint has been pretty neglected and it use to belong to my mother and I don't think it's even had a hand wax in it's life. Soo basically if I try to restore the paint will it highlight the dents?

I had hail damage to my F150 in the hood and top.... Sent it out to Dent Wizard and it was amazing what they could do... The dents in the top were done by removing the headliner and pushing them out.. the hood was less complicated and the whole process was done in less then half a day...Can't even tell anything was ever done on the truck...the truck is black...

To answer the OPs question, yes it will make them stand out more. I have the same issue on one of my cars and after a good polish you can really notice them.

:iagree:

@ cowchaser: If you don't want to live with those hail dents, I'm sure if you google Paintless Dent Repair in OK.,you'll find a shop/person in your area to remove them at, I've no doubt, at a very reasonable price. But, that is entirely up to you.

We're having this problem in Knoxville, TN. Since April 27, there are tons of cars with hail damage. My sister probably has more than 150 dents in her car. I know a friend that needs a repair for the hail and the earliest the shops can do is September.

Yup same problem here in NW Ohio. The Dodge dealer here reported 2 million in hail damage. I took a drive through their lot and it was sicking.

Here's what we had to deal with
