THIS TOTAL COST WAS 7 BUCKS (I had everything else)
We all know the stock cord on mys of these units is not very long. There have been others who have modded it. I did mine today and documented it. Ill keep it as short and sweet as possible.
Tools used:
L to R Electrical tape, Exacto blade, #2 magnetic (it nice to have) Phillips, Lineman's pliers (any wire cutter will do), Wire stripper. (any way you can clean off insulation is fine)
20Ft cord form Dollar General.
Cut off Female end
Now to go to the DA. Remove screw at back and seperate from unit.
remove wire clamp
Remove wire end screws :
Get an approx amount of wire you will need
Now you need to peel back the orange cord insulation and Seeing as how the DA is a two wire system, I snipped back the ground wire.
At this point, DO NOT FORGET TO PUT CORD THROUGH THE HANDLE (THIS WILL BITE YOU IN THE BUTT EVERY TIME!)
I did not have the correct clips on my tool bin so I just utilized the stock ones by splicing it "Old School"
This is where your Strippers and electrical tape come in to play.
I did not document all the trial and error but you will have to play with getting the correct length on each end. it can be a pain but you will get it. note that I put tape around the splice after the twist. bend it against the thicker wire and tape down .
once black and white wires are fastened back in place, attach clamp. remember to alternate between each screw while tightening.
If your having trouble getting the cover back on,, check the speed knob. You may have to lift it up a little to go over the case slot.
