ive never had that problem before. Did you bought here new or used?

It's like a bad triac on the speed control circuitry or something. If you are so inclined, you could open it up and take a look-see for burned out electronics. Your surest bet of course, is to just take it to your nearest Makita service center and let them deal with it. Makita makes a good tool. Some minor parts failure is certainly worth getting repaired.

Had my makita since 2004 and the only issue I ran into was the power cord that enters into the housing needed to be shortened due to bending over the years. Other than that - they sold me on quality :dblthumb2: If it is new - take it back, otherwise try a home depot or somewhere similar - may get it looked at for free..... (rental tool department)

to me it looks like hes rocking the case back and forth dont sound like hes pressing the trigger, and it looks like its seperated in the middle where it assembles in 2 peices, i would check the screws and tighten them, if one dont tighten you know their stripped or the post the screw screws into has snapped off. give that a shot if thats it, if its not turning on with trigger then it could be the speed control failed, the wires inside the cord or case somehow broke, only thing you can do is call up makita or email them if you bought it not too long ago and send it in for warranty repair. unless you are good with electronics and can take it apart and reassemble it. i would call/email makita first however. also i hope your not using a voltage inverter for another countries power that can mess them up also.good luck
