I just did a headlight restore for the first time and was wondering if my results came out correctly.I used the Megs kit with the plastx and even some compound but here is the real question. The left side was totally hazed but the right side was still pretty clear.Even after the buffing the left was clear but has a slight yellow tint to it compared to the right side.I think the car was in an accident on the right side and that headlight is newer. Is there anything else I could have done to it.

if you would've wet sanded both sides with a medium grit abrasive, they would've turned out the same. Either way they turned out great. Did the customer notice the difference between the left and right sides?

I have done some that were so bad that I had to start with 500 grit and finish up to 2000 grit then compound and polish. The problem is that they get fogged over again in less than a year when you take them down that far but they do look brand new for a while.

I tell the owner of the car that if they book a full detail within 6 months I will go over them again as part of the detail, making them clear again.

I recently picked up a bottle of Optimum Poli-Seal and on the bottle it says it can be used on clear plastic to protect it, so I applied a coat to my headlight lenses and it seems to be preventing them from hazing over again.

No she didn't really notice the difference between the two.But she really does not notice anything when it comes to her car and I am not trying to put anyone down but she never knew there were chips in the side windows the bottom skirts on the car, most of the paint was gone and the roof has bare spots in it so no all she could see was the fact that the haze was gone and they are clear again. So by wet sanding they will haze again faster??I put some Klasse AIO on them along with the paint as a LSP to hopefully protect them for a while. She is actually looking to trade it for a new Mustang. She will then definitely need us to keep it clean because this was the first real bath the car has gotten in 3 years...

I'm using the Spar Urethane as the sealer and it's giving me great results for both myself and my customer.

I've been putting multiple coats of KSG on mine which lasts a lot longer than AIO. Plus on plastic it dries faster and comes off easier than it does on paint for some reason, so you can slap on another coat any time in like 15 minutes. (all drying time) I can hit them with another coat often because it's so easy.
