I restored my first set of headlights today! they came out great but I was having a hard time with my sand paper getting so clogged up. I kept rinsing it with water but didnt think i was removing to much material after rinsing it so i just got a new piece of paper. Whats the trick? I used 600, 800, 1200, then 3000 grit paper and polished them with 3m rubbing compound and sealed them with 845.

I guess you were sanding by hand? I use 3M or Meguiar's sanding discs on a drill, so when they get clogged I have a terry cloth towel that I run the discs against. When the 500 discs aren't cutting it (ha) I move down to wet sanding with 320, then back up to 500, 800, and 3000. Then compound.
