Hi everybody! I'm new to autogeek forums and aesthetic car care in general, really. My beloved old Road Warrior ('87 Buick LeSabre) had a scabrous paint job when I got her--although she ran like a sewing machine--and as a poor college student I had no money for the niceties. So for the last six years I have done little or no car detail.

Now, however, I have just acquired Golda Toyota (2007 Camry) and like all new mothers I feel I must have all the best high quality toiletries for my baby. I have been doing my homework and have decided on a nice "starter kit" for myself, but I have a question about Klasse.

For a brand new car, do I need the twins, or can I simply start off by using the high-gloss sealant?

I plan to layer with carnauba, but my first priority is to get the paint protected.

Thanks in advance for any responses! :D More questions coming soon, I'm sure...

I would at least clay it once, cause you don't how ong its been sitting outside, and the klasse twins would be perfect to clean any watermarks or stains again from being outside at the dealership, and the klasse sg would be a very goo sealant to start with
, its pretty unbeatable, I would also suggest maybe a coat of a good carnuba for extra shine and depth.

cleaning the paint is a worthy choice even on new cars. The system works extremely well together. If you decide not to top with canauba, use some Quikshine or Sonus Spritz and bring on the addtl gloss.

Klasse Sealant Glaze is tricky enough to use without having to use it on a surface that hasn't been properly preped. Before using the sealant you should wash the car, clay it, and then use the Klasse All In One paint cleaner as a base. The sealant is very very difficult to buff off if the surface isn't cleaned properly. Besides, you need a properly preped surface for the sealant to bond to anyway, so jumping to the sealant without claying and using the paint cleaner would be a waste of product. AIO is the best base for the sealant and really needs to be used first even on a new car. Just because it is new doesn't mean there isn't contamination on the surface or that it wouldn't benefit from a good paint cleaning. ;)

Okay, claying and the twins it is. Thank you very much for your help! !:)

Welcome to our forum and congratulations on your new car!! I love that new car smell. :) I agree with OCDetails. For the best protection you can't beat Klasse. Good luck and please post some pics so we can admire your new ride. :) take care.

Thanks, FloridaNative! Which, I'm one, too. A native Floridian, I mean. Not too many of us around any more, are there?

I"m really excited about having Golda...this is the first brand new car I've ever owned so I get to do everything "my way" from the start. I don't have to deal with anyone else's bad car-care baggage. Im the MAN And even though I didn't set out to get a Camry the deal was too sweet and the 2007's too purdy, IMHO. Plus she has a manual transmission, which seem to be in short supply these days. Of course everybody will have a 2007 Camry soon but it's nice to be a little ahead of the curve for a short while, at least. And I aim to make mine the cleanest and shiniest with the all best products! :D

I agree with the others, clay first!

Welcome to the forum, libtech, I know you'll like here.

One tip the others didn't mention, if you need practice before you try something new, (i.e. clay), use someone else's car. I clayed my wife's mini van before I even touched my 2006 Mini Cooper S. Not that claying is tough but why take the chance on your brand new car?

Good luck!

:) you're very welcome! Where in Fla are ya? Right now I'm in Hollywood, but I'm originally from Fort Lauderdale. I've never lived out of Broward County. :)

I agree. Nothing beats a new car. :) I love my car! She's my baby and knowing that I'm the only one who's ever owned her just increases my "pride of ownership". I do miss my stick shift though! That was the hardest part for me going the SUV route. I always drove cars before and always had a stick. I miss the "feeling" of driving and running through the gears, but I love my baby so much that I can forgive her for being an automatic.:)

LOL I can't wait to hear your first post AFTER you've used all your products. I know you'll be hooked for life! Welcome to the addiction my friend. :)

LOL, Scott!! I'm sure my poor unsuspecting victim...er...friend...will thank you very much for your suggestion! :D

FLNative--I'm over here in Tampa. I was born here, moved when I was in 2nd grade, lived in Tallahassee for about six years (LOVED IT there), lived in Alexandria, VA for a while, and then came back to Tampa when I graduated from high school. My parents are still up there because the big bucks are in DC, but the rest of my family is here. I don't think I'll ever be entirely happy if I have to move away from FL again, although I wouldn't mind leaving Tampa. I'd be ecstatic if I could move somewhere up around Gainesville or north of that.

I'm getting ready to post my "big list" intial purchase for the experts approval...I'm looking forward to hearing what y'all have to say about that.

Just what I needed was yet another addiction in life. Oh well. At least this one won't rot my liver or my lungs. Just my wallet. :D

OOOH Tampa!!! Most of my family still live there! My grandfather, Julio Pelaez, was even a city councilman there for two terms! My great grandfather too did alot to help build up Tampa in the early days. :)

Hello newbie .... (dont'cha just hate that term) .... the addiction for which you have just embarked on will likely get you into heaven, after all, we all know that everyones God of choice just loves a clean car.

LOL Killr...I've been saying that when the Road Warrior finally goes (I'm trying to donate her body to "science", aka autoshop class) she's going to go to the Rainbow Car Lot that's just on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge, and she's going to be there waiting for me and my dog whenever we get up that way. God (whatever you call your diety) sends all the good cars there and I know that's where she'll be. She never was particularly clean but she made up for it in guts. And I took really good care of her mechanically. That will still get us both in, right??

I don't mind the term "newbie" at all. It passes soon enough, and anyways I reckon it's better than some of the other things I've been called over the years. :D

FLNative--you're Cuban? Man, you guys have the BEST food!! My dad lived here his whole life before we moved to Tallahassee and was a reporter for the Trib for years. I'll ask him does he remember your grandfather. I'll bet he does. What a small world, huh?

Thanks Mr. C and everyone for making me feel welcome! I'll give updates and post pics as things occur. I'll be making my order Monday or Tuesday and I have next Saturday set aside for my first big foray into serious car care. I'm excited!!

My family is both Spanish and Cuban. Man, your dad worked for the Tampa Tribune?? That's so cool! My grandfather would have something written about him because he was a City Councilman for two terms his name was Julio Pelaez. And my great grandfather Evaristo Pelaez too had a story written about him in the Tampa Tribune when he turned 100 years old and also when he died. My family did alot for Ybor City back in the day and, at least in my mind, our family name is synonymous with Tampa. :)

I agree with you about Cuban food! SABROSISIMA!!!!
