Hello everyone. I've been stalking the site for a while now to fulfill my detailing desire. I've found PLENTY of information, and there's more I haven't even gotten to. So to start off, I've been detailing my car as a hobby, but Ive recently had a few requests to do friend's cars. So I started this week with 2 cars. So now for the questions.

They both took about 6 hours, full inside and out. One was a Ford Escape, and the other a Saturn Ion. I charged each $100.

1) Is 6 hours usual or reasonable? I caught myself moving around alot and not really focusing on one thing before going to another.
2) Knowing $100 is low-balling the price, what is the average for these types of vehicles?
3) How can I speed up the process?

Since I've done theirs, they refered me to family, who now are in line.

Thanks a bunch! Pleasure to be here reading all the info.

Welcome to AGO!

What all did you do in those 6 hours?

As far as price and time goes it really depends on what your doing. What exactly does a "full inside and out" encompass for you?

:welcome: To Autogeek Online!!

6 hours is a decent amount of time to spend detailing a car. Would you mind going into a little more detail on what you did to the inside and outside?

Welcome to Autogeek Online!

Today I just did a wash and wax and a very detailed interior cleaning. It took me a little over 6 hours. About 4 hours just on the interior. Charged $155. I washed, cleaned the wheels and tires, dried, clayed, used an All In One product, topped with Duragloss Aquawax, vacuumed the insides, scrubbed all the floor mats and door panels, cleaned the windows, dressed the tires. To some I may have under charged or over charged. But making $26 an hour is plenty for me.

What steps did you take?

Wow thanks for the quick replies everyone! I hand washed, scrubbed wheel wells, light engine wash, dried, polished wheels, tire dressing, clayed, Meg's ultimate polish, Meg's carnuba wax (both applied with $20 Walmart handheld), shined trim.....scrubbed seats and carpet with simple green dilution, cleaned interior components, vacuumed (3x total), windows inside and out, ultimate shine dressing.

I ordered Porter DA polisher kit from here to do remaining. I have 3 other interests already next week.

Price is specific to your area, your skill level, and quality. You can do a lot In six hours. I've had them a min of 5 out to a max of 18. If u get into the paint correction expect much longer. Once u get your process down and know how long it will take u figure out what u want to make and hour and then throw I'm a few dollars for products.
