Hello,

My name is Kevin and I currently live in Madison, MS. I moved here about 2 years ago for work. I've been reading here for the past few months gaining knowledge. I've purchased a lot of items from the store and have moved away from most of the over the counter cleaning stuff. This all started from my long term project. Its a 1965 ford mustang. It started out as Vintage Burgundy-white primer-a bit of green. I took the entire down to metal, replaced panels and did patches and then worked it back up to paint.
I had a friend help teach me how to the base coat and clear coat and wet sand. Unfortunately due to time constraints he ended up buffing and polishing it out himself so I missed that part...

I bought some wheels that were quite neglected(stained, etched, cloudy) from a friend and worked on cleaning them up. They are uncoated aluminum. I used Mothers Billet polish and a PowerBall along with some flour for some extra abrasion.

On the mustang I want to keep a very nice finish and don't mind re-waxing it and maintaining the prestine finish. After doing some reading I am thinking applying Opti-Coat on my wife's 2009 Ford Fusion and my 2011 Toyota Tacoma. You can see all three here

Unfortunately my wife was taking my truck for it first oil change at the dealer(toyota care) at 4500 miles and had a small RV run a red light and hit her right on the side of the drivers front wheel. That happened November 11th and they are in the process of getting a new frame, it is "in the mail." So the truck has just been waiting at the body until it comes in.

When I get the truck back and i've waited the 45 days for the paint to out-gas I plan on opti-coating my truck as well.

I've had a bit of a battle with the insurance companies and getting a rental car. My insurance gave me a rental for the first 30 days like my policy stated which I am fine with. The other woman(the one at fault) is refusing to pay for a rental until they concluded their investigation which took them until January 10. They are not accepting the liability and so the two insurance companies are going to arbitration. Until arbitration is over I still can't get a rental.

Luckly a good friend had a spare car he is letting me use. He wants to sell it and its been neglected to say the least. So why I have it I'll be doing as good of a clean up job as I can.

I'll get some afters once I am done.

I just wanted to thank AG for all the wonderful information you guys have. Using the search I have found an answer to every question I have had. I felt bad not posting anything but I didn't want to ask questions that had already been answered. So I figured a good intro would suffice.

Thanks!

Welcome!
Great job on that Mustang!!!!!!!!:props:

Hi Kevin,

:welcome: To Autogeek Online!

That has to be one of the most gorgeous blues I've ever seen on the first generation Mustang!! :dblthumb2:

Shinny ain't good enough, it's got to be dripping wet.....:props:

WWWWOOOOOWWWW that mustang came out great!!! Nice job!! Welcome to the forum!

Thanks, the blue is actually World Rally Mica off of a Subaru. I have always liked that color and thought it would look great on this car. I feel like I accomplished my goal. I am interested in using Detailer Pro Waterless Washing system on the mustang. Its the only car that gets the garage treatment and its a weekend good weather car and I want to avoid getting the car submerged in water as much as I can. I just worry about dirt and contaminants causing damage to the paint. I have done the usual two bucket method with grit guard and a AutoGeek foam gun in the past. Topped that off with Klasse High Gloss Sealant Glaze with an additional coat of Pinnicale Souveran Paste wax. I think the Series II would look even better with my paint.

:welcome:to AGO! Good looking mule you have.

Nice Mustang! Looks great! And welcome to the forum!
