Hi everybody, my names Andy and I hail from the great state of Minnesota. Over the last year and a half I have been surfing the Autogeek forums and youtube channel, slowly learning the ins and outs of proper detailing. I recently bought the GG DA and have been impressed with the results so far. I don't work for a detailing business but do a little light polishing and waxing for co-workers. As I've become more familiar with the polisher and proper techniques I have been looking to do more "correction" work on my own vehicles, and have been transitioning from the consumer grade OTC products to the higher end Pinnacle and other "professional grade" lines. The forums so far have been a huge wealth of knowledge and I just wanted to say Thank You to everyone here for all the help so far.

Welcome to the site, my boss and I went to Minneapolis/St.Paul in January 2 years ago and never experienced cold like that in our lives. The locals were wearing jean jackets and we were in parkas. They were slightly amused at my boss shivering.
 
The temps get a little ridiculous in the winter but you get use to it over time. The worst part is dealing with snow from November- late may/early june. Makes it tough to keep the vehicles clean and protected with constant attacks from road salt and sand 6 months out of the year.

Make detailing enjoyable and practice. Take your time and do not become overwhelmed. Just because there are a thousand product doesn't mean you have to use them all. Pick one product from each category from the steps above.

How many times have you had to re-detail something because you contaminated an area you already finished?

Formulate a plan that works well for you...

Set realistic expectations. Trying to achieve a show quality finish on a daily driver can be difficult and somewhat disappointing if not achieved. It's also a ton of work...
