Hello - I've been lurching around the forums for a couple weeks, and must admit I'm rather intimidated by the knowledge among you all.

I am getting my dream car later this week - a 2007 Gallardo Nera with 1900 miles on it. I'm literally pissing my pants. Although black is my favorite color, I'm terrified of it. Because the car had several swirls, in some cases rather severe, the dealer had to wet sand certain areas and use 3M extra cut 06060, then glaze.

Now that it's hopefully 100 percent corrected, how shall I maintain this? The dealer told me to wait two weeks, then use any wax. Does it really take two weeks for sealant to cure?

:welcome: Congrats on the Lamborghini purchase, or future purchase. Take care of that ride. You'll need a polisher(dual-action or rotary), polish, sealant/wax, tire gel, wheel wax,interior products and a ton of microfiber.

Thanks for the reply. Already got everything you mentioned, plus the foam gun. Black is a little scary, plus some of the panels are flat black. I have no idea what to use on them - probably nothing???

Should I be concerned the dealer took such an aggressive approach on a car that's almost new?

I would of had them try a less aggressive approach first. The glaze after is only going to hide the wet sanding marks. They need to finish that down.
 
I thought the 3M extra cut finished out the wet sanding marks? The person at the dealership apparently has worked on many exotics, and the entire job was overseen by the owner of a very reputable body shop. Hopefully they took the appropriate steps... I have my life in their hands!
 
Whatever you do, be careful!!! Even if the personal that did the sanding and polishing was a professional, he removed clear coat from your finish. This means that you will need to take extra care when using any kind of rotart tool, there is a greater risk of burning through.

Loudog2 is right also, glaze will "hide" the swirls and fine scratches for now. After a good rain or wash, the glaze will rinse away. I work at a family owned body shop that is like the "puppy mill" of shops. Glaze is one of the tricks of the trade.

Either way, enjoy a very sweet ride!
 
Where in Upstate NY? I saw a black Lambo with black wheels driving by (or pulling in to) the Finger Lakes Race Track yesterday (6/17). I haven't seen one of those around here in atleast a couple years... Was it you?
 
That's funny... It wasn't me, I'm between Syracuse and Albany. I wonder who else has a Nera so close!!!

I was hoping to drive and enjoy this car, but with such low miles and low production, I'm finding myself enjoying it more in the garage. Oh well...
 
If you wet your pants that easily, you may wish to order some upholstery cleaning products from AGO.:D
