I had a buddy come to me to help fix these really bad water spots. For those wondering, this is a result of his apartment complex having some leaks Thay dropped all over his car.

He had this happen before, but it was just one spot and he used meguiars water spot remover. With a lot of elbow grease, it worked.

But since then, itÂ’s happened again but this time really bad. I was going to tackle this with him, but thereÂ’s got to be a better way to get this out, right?

I remember reading, a trick about using MegsÂ’ wheel brightener cut down to a safe ratio for the clear coat that helped fix this.

can anyone provide some professional advice?

pics of the damage. :(

Start by washing the car to see where you’re really at.

Wheel Brightener @4:1 is safe for the paint just as it’s safe for your wheels. If you do use it, spray, dwell for 30secs. per the label, and wash the surface with a soapy mitt followed by a good rinse.

Meguiars Hot Wheels Chrome & Wire Cleaner is the consumer version of Wheel Brightener.

You could also try using Meguiars Ultimate Compound if you don’t want to try the Wheel Brightener.

If it were me I’d try the Wheel Brightener and if no luck try the compound next.

Start with a test spot.

Ya for sure a wash to start like Eldorado2k said... never know a good amount might wash right off.
Could also check a spot with WD-40 as well....good luck

And then once solved...a new, dryer parking spot!!!

That is a serious cringe on BMW paint. Especially if reoccuring

That's what I am going to do. Wheel Brightener first, and then if that doesn't work, going with some cutting compound and foam pad (or MF if it's really bad).

Hmmm...scared to try that more than the wheel brightener lol.

I know, right??

It hurts to see for sure. He loves that car.

Will keep you all posted on this. Won't happen this weekend is my guess, but sometime in the near future.

Have the Association deal with it or it will happen again.

Anytime you use elbow grease on one spot is never a good idea.

Water spots can get so bad they might need to be wet sanded to get them all removed
They etch the paint / clear

1 of the rare situations where he might want to consider a car cover.

The first thing to do is wash your car and dry it completely. And next use white vinegar. After washing the car with water, mineral deposits may still be present. A simple solution of equal parts white vinegar and distilled water gently wiping over the spots will remove them. Vinegar works well for hard water spots because it can remove magnesium and calcium.

Worked for my brother today. He had been concerned for the past few days. Jet black 2020 Jeep Cherokee.

i am thinkin thats a little more than just water spots. almost looks to me like the car is in a parking garage, water came from upper floor, and theres either concrete dust or if in a northern state that uses salt in the winter, salt in those spots
