I dread cleaning wheels these days
Sometimes I will cheat and just pre foam with some Adams Wheel/Tire and give it a HP pass. Zero mechanical agitation.
The post towel dry removes the film off the wheels

On the other car with dusty pads (well you know those germans)......I will break out the brush and brush the spokes.
Rotors are massive and it's a chore fitting even the smallest wheel wooly so I get a bit lazy sometimes at brushing the spokes....or the -rim pocket when I don't feel like being a slave to my wheels on cleaning time,

I will cheat on the big wash. Big wash = swapping winters/summers, give me an opportune time for full access.
Cheat = using Meg Wheel Brightner, get's the back of the inner of the pockets clean without spending much fuss on it.
If I'm feeling not that lazy, I'll do the whole Sonax Full Effect +, etc in progressive steps.

My main tools of choice is a swissvax wheel brush, wheel mitts, and a mix of wheel woolies. The best tool I have when the rotor is so large it's literally a hair breath away from the wheel is a older wheel tool (not popular) but it's the original manuf of the Adams Turbo Stick. I have them in all 3 sizes.....

Got some extra rainy day funds so I'm thinking about ordering wheel brushes I down own

- some of those WheelWollie variants in MF
- A Fender Brush (don't own one)
- Detail Factory Tire Brush - just because I want to keep up with the Jonses (current TufShine is my favorite tire brush)

- I think speedmaster brushes scratches but hey, I've never used in ever so maybe I should buy one to confirm it does or doesn't.
(I did say I'm dipping into rainy day funds).

- CarPro XL brush looks interesting. Might grab that

- Any thoughts and any and all of Adam's Wheel brush lineups ?
Is their barrel brush wheel woolies OEM/Rebranded.
I kinda think this may be a nice upgrade with the comfy rubberized handle on the Adams Variant

Carpro XL was the first one that came to mind. Orange handle. I have way to many to probably use in a life time that will all work for wheels. But if you want the biggest bang for the buck and also get an exclusive brush that has to be the best out there for wheels is the Detail Factory curve ball just for grill and exterior but ideal for wheels and it is actually bigger than you could imagine from the pictures. It literally is the size of a baseball. The one they have sold for awhile now will be great on interior panels, doors and seats. Also keep in mind the brush they advertise as a tire brush is way to soft for tires and it will be perfect also for wheels.

I like the Mother’s wheel brush that I use for wheel faces and tires.

For wheel wells, I now use the EZ Detail Go brush that DFB recommended and I love it.

I don’t usually worry about the sides/back of the wheel since as you said, it is hard to get brushes in there. I do have a Microfiber Madness Incrediflat brush but even it isn’t flat enough to get behind brake calipers. I sometimes break out the Incredimitt glove to get in there with my hand.

Haven’t found a lug nut brush I like yet.

IMO this is the best wheel barrel brush.

16 in. Wire Wheel Brush

I recently bought a Wheel Woolie style brush and that thing is useless. Can’t fit into anything. It’s in the backyard collecting dirt now.

I have far too many brushes for wheel and tire cleaning than I should admit to in public, but these are what I grab the most -

-Tire scrub brush
I have both the TuffShine and Detail Factory tire brushes. The DF one is not about keeping up with the Jones's, it the better brush full stop. The bristles are longer and slightly softer, allowing them to better conform the tire itself.

-EZ Detail GO
I call this thing the toilet brush. It's brilliant for cleaning wheel arches. If you have an open wheel design and plenty of caliper/disk clearance, then it can be used for the barrels as well.

-A microfiber wheel brush
I use this as much as I can for barrel cleaning.

-EZ Detail Brush's
You want the small and large one. I use these for when caliper/disk clearance is limited, my Mustang for example, or when the wheel design won't allow the use of a microfiber brush. These also get used to clean exhaust tips and engine bays.

-A boars hair brush
Use this for lugs, sometimes for calipers. You want a plastic handle, wooden ones expand and contract with the moisture and will not last very long, ask me how I know this.

-A small finger mitt
I use this for cleaning in, around and behind the wheel spokes.

That's one heullva PIC post there DFB. Thx.

Strangely even tho many have swore the speedmaster brushes don't scratch, I have avoided them for like 2 decades+....
I guess I should order them to see as well

Just did my checked on DetailFactory.
Off to get my EZ in and I think I will still order the CarPro XL, just because that Orange POPS.

Which ones are the Speedmaster ones? The kind that are like Wheel Woolies?

@DFB. Is that Ez Detail brush the kind that people say splashes back at you when going in and out of the barrels?

Don't want to keep up with the DFB unless you have allot of $$$ or go broke:dblthumb2:

Speedmaster wheel brush for the barrels.
Boars' hair wheel brush for the faces.
Tuff shine LARGE tire brush for the tires.

Speedmaster=Daytone. Similar to the EZ Detail brushes in this thread.
Going to try to see what is local.....versus mail-order on this. Even if it's just 1 sampling.
I don't think is is paint-powder coat friendly. If if's good enough to use on a black hook, then it will be okay for me....
But if it's not good enough for a black hood...kinda goes back to my reservation on this style of material for the last 2 decades.

The Speedmaster ones I have match the EZ Detail Brush in DFB's post, and can confirm it's easy to end up wearing whatever wheel cleaner you're using and the brake dust it's gotten off. (Wrecked a shirt the first time I used them from the spatter).

Try this brush. It doesn’t splater.

Kinda sounds like the turbosticks at 1500 RPM. The turbosticks have -flagged- tops on them. As as long as the rod can pass through the 1/2 or less clearance between rotor gap.......it works wonderfully for those tight applications. I still cannot picture how they don't micro minutia mar, but I guess it also depends whose eyes and perception of marring is with that type of material

Have you ever used a tampico carpet brush? It’s that material. It softens up when wet, yet it’s still stiff enough to be able to scrub tough baked on brake dust in the barrels when used with a good wheel cleaner.

I see… But they do also make a Wheel Whoolie style brush too.

This is the brush I recently bought. It’s not a real Whoolie or a Speed Master, but basically the same size same thing and for me it’s pretty much useless. It fits into the large openings of my wheels but not the small ones. So if it can’t make it into the small holes and I still need the other brush, then why even bother with this one if the other can handle the entire job and do it better?

That’s why for me this brush is a 1 out of 5 star. Plus there’s no way this brush could ever scrub some really dirty barrels as good as the other brush.

The exposed metal tip would rule that brush out for me, not a good design.

Yes, theoretically you have to be careful using that brush because of the exposed metal wire tip, but in practice it’s not really something you ever worry about actually happening because using it becomes second nature no matter what kind of wheel it is. I’ve been using that brush for years and I’ve maybe missed a perfect hole once and it didn’t cause a scratch/was a non issue.

It’d be as rare as you hitting a wheel directly with the point of your EZ Detail Brush, and that’s probably never happened, right?

As far as the wire itself along the length of the brush, it’s surrounded by enough bristles that it doesn’t make contact with the barrel of the wheels, even on the way out.

After time the brush will eventually lose its shape or lose bristles and need to be replaced.

This is a perfect example of what happens to that brush when it needs replacing. This Tampico carpet brush is several years old compared to the new 1 on the left.
