Has anyone used Sonax Engine Degreaser?
Allegedly this is good stuff, but is it as good as Brake Cleaner??

Xoxo

Cmon people. For all that ive done for you the least you can do is tell me what you know about this product

When you say "brake cleaner", I presume you mean a solvent (brake cleaner today generally isn't what it used to be, the solvents have changed over time). The Sonax is not a solvent, it's some sort of detergent, which means it needs to be rinsed off with water, so that's going to be fundamentally different than using a can of brake cleaner.

Thanks for the explanation. If it's detergent based I can't imagine it being strong enough for what I need it for

Detergent-based doesn’t necessarily mean it isn’t strong.

SONAX Engine Cleaner is formulated specifically to break down stubborn oil, grease and grime in the engine compartment, but it does it without relying on the aggressive solvents you’d typically find in a brake cleaner.

So I wouldn’t really consider brake cleaner and an engine degreaser interchangeable. Brake cleaner may be the better choice for certain small, solvent-safe metal parts, but it can also be harsh on plastics, rubber and other materials found in an engine bay.

For cleaning an engine bay with a mix of metal, plastic, rubber and painted surfaces, the SONAX product is designed for that job. You spray it on, let it dwell briefly, agitate stubborn areas if needed, and rinse it off.

Great response. Thanks for the explanation
