Noticed this big gouge in my wifes cars finish. Its through the paint and into the plastic molding of the bumper. All I can think of is road debris had to have flown up and tore into the finish.

Do you think this is a pretty simple body shop repair, or am I going to get charged a partial arm and a leg?

Just looking for some opinions.
Thanks.

get some bondo, just a tad fill in not much and then apply paint and clear coat. leave enough room for the paint to sink so it's almost level then you can level it with the clear coat.

It would be a pretty simple repair. They will have to dish out the damage, or V it with a 50-80 grit grinding disk. Then they will fill it with a 2 part epoxy made for plastic. After that hardens it will sand like normal filler. They will have to scuff the entire bumper, spot prime, block, then reprime and wet-sand. Then they will have to blend the paint to match, and then reclear the whole bumper.

I'm not sure what a shop would charge you for it. If I still had my book I could of gave you a rough cost.

Thank you for the reply's.

+1 usually $500ish then ther's the DIY fix. Paint color is important for a spot repair.

$500 is a lot, can't do DIY, this car is her pride and joy.
