2002 Ford Windstar 240k miles Red
All original paint along with the engine, tranny, exhaust, suspension, etc.
No accidents, but it is time to move on from this vehicle.
Paint is in decent condition, it shines from a distance, but you can feel an amount of surface contaminates.
I only expect to get $3k in a sale of the vehicle.

History:
Zaino Z-2 with ZFX annually applied from 2002-2011.
Zaino Z-7 Car wash about every month, using the two bucket method.
In Sept. 2011, washed with Dawn dishwashing liquid and every month since. (not smart I know).

Should I just Z-7 wash it and sell it? Or should I do more?

I have two other cars that need some amount of attention. I will post in a separate thread. But they are a 2001 BMW 540i Silver and a 2007 Chrysler Town and Country Black

Would I recoup cost, sell faster by buying a PC 7424XP, M105, M205, and some kind of synthetic wax?

A car's appearance is a huge factor on selling it as is a clean engine compartment and interior.

I'd say "yes" detail the heck out of it and make it look as clean as possible. I wouldn't go crazy making the paint swirls and scratch free, just shiny with clear glass and shiny tires.

Here's how my brain works,

If a car looks clean on the outside, looks clean on the inside, including the trunk, and the engine compartment looks clean and cared for, it makes me think the car was take well care of overall and that's a positive.

IF the car is dirty inside and out and the engine compartment is a sludge mess, then it makes me think the car is spent and that's a negative.

:)

So you don't think polishing the paint would be a good idea Mike?

I need to put together a package for people wanting to sell their vehicle. One of the things I wanted to include was a paint polish. I think a paint correction is overkill because of the cost, but doing either an AIO or Polish+Sealant was my intention.

So from your comment, full interior cleaning, engine bay cleaning, and exterior wash would be ideal?

I have some Zaino Z-CS Clear Seal in the garage. Maybe I will wash and apply that.

What would you do with a steering wheel that the top from 11 to 1 oclock has the leather deteriorating? Cheap steering wheel cover? or wrap it with a leather strap? Ideas?
