Hello all,

I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday weekend and AG sales! My neighbor has asked me to do a 1 step paint correction on her car and I noticed this mark on the hood. Sorry for the poor pictures, my phone camera stinks, but not what it could be. Burn through? Clear coat failure?

Thanks for all of your help!

kinda looks like a burn thru clear coat. then again like its scuffed. let her know before you try fixing it

It kinda looks like it was sanded through there. Unless it was a chip that was filled and sanded level but not compounded.

Looks like remnants of a pine sap drop that was aggressively rubbed

How should I proceed? Polish by hand see if it helps, move to a compound by hand if it doesnt, or just buff with HD SPEED to be on the safe side?

Can you gauge the paint first to verify enough material to correct?

Yes, I have a paint gauge and I will measure it after I wash it. It is extremely filthy right now. I explained to her that I may not be able to remove it depending on what it is and she understood.
