Hi, I recently purchased a new car for the first time and after I drove off the lot suddenly realized my OCD and paranoia were going to force me to learn everything I possibly could about keeping my investment in as good a condition as possible. When reading about proper car washing techniques and products I came across this site and found it to be full of great knowledge so I wanted to sign up incase I ever needed/wanted to ask questions to get a better understanding of things.

I chose the name Exploder because during the car buying process I was deciding between a Toyota and a Ford and the Toyota salesman kept making fun of all the ford vehicles with disparaging nicknames. In the end we got an Explorer which he kept calling an Exploder and whala!

Welcome ! You said you got a new car but was it a Ford or Toyota?

WelcomeBud, I work at toyota in canada here and we got in an exploder on a trade. Very high techy vehicle. Almost too high tech for my liking. But onto your question. Assuming this will be your DD (daily driver) and assuming you have no products i would personally reccomend the following...

-2 5 gallon wash pails
-Wash soap (i like meguiars)
-Shammy or drying towel
-wash mit

-Griots Garage 6" DA Polisher
-Lake country CCS Pads .. 3 of each.. Orange/white/gray
-Iron X
-Mothers Clay Bar with Mothers california gold spray wax (if in canada, canadian tire sells it)
-Blackfire SRC Compound
-Blackfire SRC Finishing Polish
-Blackfire Wet Diamond Paint Sealant
-Blackfire Midnight Sun Carnubua (if you don't wanna use a paint sealant)
-Some good quality MicroFiber for buffing

A good coating on your windshield such as pinnacle Black Label Glass Coating

As for tire shine i'm not too firmiliar with the brands since i use Black Magic and it slings a bit (only used on my DD so i'm not too picky)

Keep in mind everything i named off is for a complete 8hr+ 3 step process. If you were happy with the current condition of the vehicle then you could skip the compounding and finishing polish and go right to the sealant/wax.

Another way to go could be an AIO (All in one) like pinnacle XMT 360 or Blackfire total polish and seal. They don't have much correction but do clean the paint nicely and give you an added sealant in 1 step and can save you alot of time and money if that is what is needed. Honestly i could rant on for hours. So i'm just gunna stop talking and let someone else comment. Good luck with your new vehicle bud.

Sorry now that i re-read your post i realized you were not asking what to purchase. You were just introducing yourself....my bad. lol

go back to the salesman and ask him how many recalls toyota has had and tell him its The One You ought To Avoid.
