I have a Black Nissan 240SX new to the detailing world and up for any advice or suggestions. Since my birthday is coming up I am looking forward to using the money to get a porter cable. I am really tired of spending 2 days to fully detail just the outside of my car.

:welcome: I have never used the pc or the flex. But from what I have read here you should get the flex instead. The flex has a lot more corrective ability. On materials, the Meguiares, 105 and 205, have been the most talked about with Menzerna Polishes coming in a close second.

:welcome: You should be able to get a lot of opinions on PC vs Flex on this forum. ;)

The PC is a perfect place to start. If you do consider the Flex, find a local detailer or detailers that can let you try them out and compare before you buy.

My only other advice would be to read up on this and other forums. Use the search function before you ask questions, but don't be shy. Most people are here to help.

Menzerna polishes are my favorites by far, with the exception of power gloss. Yet, with a random orbital or the Flex forced rotation random orbital hybrid, I wouldn't recommend using heavier compounds anyway, so the polishes are great. Might I suggest PO83 Super Intensive Polish (PO85RD3.02 aka "SIP"), PO 106 FF/FA Nano Polish, and the new PO203A Power Finish. I can't forget to mention 3m ultrafina, either. Be sure to not use to much, and to let it break down properly. In terms of compounds, I prefer 3M Perfect-It 3000 Extra Cut, Megiuars 105, and Menzerna S34A Powergloss at third.

Regardless, a rotary finishes better because it properly breaks down the polishes as even the flex cannot 100%. (Although darn close, and it does an excellent job). Being new, you may want to start with the flex.
