Hi, Back after a couple years and looking from restocking recommendations

Hey guys and gals. It’s been a while since I’ve visited the forum and im looking to replace some main items that I still use a bit of.

Well, the main one that I will always be trying to find a replacement for is Meguiars D114.

And, a good replacement for McKees PTR.

I’ve have several older RWs along with ONR, and was mainly using N914. Any new or reformulated good cleaning non gloss enhancing RWs out there now that kick but at 1:128, or close, and is reasonably priced pre gallon?

I really liked McKees Plastic Trim Restorer. It was like WETS but better and cheaper. Now it is SiO2 enhanced and I’m not sure if it is similar. I like to “layer” it and let it soak in.

I wasn’t sure if it now had some coating like ability and would not let further coats “replenished” the rubber.

Have they changed WET$? It is good, but it didn’t darken as much.

P.S. Good to still see some familiar names on the boards. Love you Bob!!! Sorry, not much love for M40, never like the smell.

N-914 is still great. No longer carry by AG I believe Griots Brilliant shine rinseless wash is the only thing from AG that doesn’t leave anything behind.

Haven’t used anything on trim except trim coatings. The darken well and last 10-24 months.

•Have you tried Optimum Opti-Bond?
-It’s often my M39/40 alternative.

•There’s also Solution Finish—another
Brand’s products I’ve tried and liked
their results. They’re currently on sale.

Solution Finish Black Plastic & Vinyl Restorer, trim restorer, black plastic restorer

Note/Factoid:
Once the Solution Finish has dried/cured…
Some will top it with a “layer” of CarPro’s
CQuartz DLux.

I would have suggested CarPro Perl if you lived in the Southwest. But, some posters have said it doesn't last long in wet areas. Too bad, It's good stuff.

I think N-914 is probably the best replacement for D114. But, having dealt with ONR for a longer period of time now, I find myself using it more often than before. I just try to avoid using it where it will mix with other products from previous applications.

I think you guys are forgetting American Detailer Hybrid Wash Rinseless Concentrate.

I haven’t tried it myself, but the bottle says it dilutes to handle everything from glass cleaner, claylube, rinseless, waterless, and even bucket wash without leaving anything behind. Sounds worth considering.

I’ll add another vote for trying Griots Brilliant Finish Rinseless as a substitute for N-914. The dilution ratios are a little stiffer (1/128 for rinseless, 1/6 if I remember right for other uses), but it’s cheap at like $13 for 64oz. It’s consistently cheaper on the Griots site, have AG price match. I use it as rinseless and as a glass cleaner around the house.

Hopefully Fly07STI will chime in, I thought he recently mentioned digging an American Detailers Garage rinseless that doesn’t leave anything behind. I haven’t been following that brand’s offerings (for no other reason than brand loyalty- helps protect my pocketbook!), but I’d trust his opinion!

American Detailers Garage Hybrid Wash Rinseless Concentrate

Wipe out has carnauba and Polydimethyl siloxane which I believe is a type of silicone(?). I’ve read it is an ingredient in some sealants.

I personally don’t worry too much about what’s being left behind in a rinseless.

Haven’t found any that affected CqUk3 when I had it on the Mustang.

Thanks guys, I might check out the American Detailers. Looks like it has good ratios and I’m not terribly concerned about anything extra being left behind. Just like a good rinseless that I can use on any and everything. It’s usually my light interior detailer.

I don’t do a lot details anymore as I starting working as a mechanic about a year ago but we occasionally get a customer that wants theirs done and occasionally get a few “special interest” vehicles that we try to take good care of.

N914 is still very good. Wipeout from ADG is an outstanding product. The more I’m using it, the more I’m enjoying it.
