I see references all the time to stuff that can be used for detailing at the Home Depot & Lowe's. I picked up some Folex at Home Depot the other day but have not tried it yet. I need to make another run up there soon, so what else should I look for? There is a Lowe's across the street so I can drop in there too.

lowes proline grout sponge if you roll that way, a wagner standing platform is awesome. quick disconnects for your hose and attachments/power washer etc. electric Leaf blower for drying the nooks and crannies of your car perhaps.

What is the grout sponge used for?

I picked up some quick disconnects yesterday and the first one didn't even make it around the truck to start the pre-soak. The second one worked great though.

I think I am going to get a shop vac with detachable leaf blower. The Craftsman one seems to be more powerful and $20 cheaper. My old shop vac was a Craftsman and I beat the hell out of it for years and it still worked great when I sold it. One of the wheels was acting up and it scratched my wood floors so it had to go!
 
Buy Zep citrus degreaser for rims, works great and is a good value
 
I need one of those work platforms for buffing the roofs of cars instead of using a ladder and leaning over.

Dramm makes the best quick connects and shut off valves. Don't bother with gilmour stuff, it will eventually leak on you.

Zep 505 gallon, use on tires and fender wells
Zep Citrus degreaser, use on wheels, interior, can dilute to suit needs
Flo-Master Model 56HD Hand pump pressure sprayer, $6, awesome adjustable mist pattern for Clay lube, APC, waterless washer etc
Green pack of Microfibers, I think 24pk, great for non paint use and door jams
Gamma seal lids, 5 gal buckets
Foam paint brushes for applying tire/ trim dressing

All at Home Depot

I've never seen the gamma seal lids at the hd. I'll have to ask someone the next time I go. Is it near the paint buckets? I was about to order some of the lids in different colors online, but I would rather just buy it locally even if color selection is minimal.

Snagged two from my local Home Depot on the DAT sale on a price match to Lowes.

In the paint section, with the white paint buckets and other lids. Only $6, but only black. It's technically called Leaktite 5 gal screw top lid. SKU 266050
