I subscribed to the Honda Service Express website for a few days. I needed instructions on how to remove my door panels and this is the only place I could find it.

Needless to say I have been taking advantage of the $10 I spent and have been browsing the site. If you need to do any repair work to a Honda, this is the place to get factory instructions on how to remove or replace something. There is also a ton of other information.

One thing I came across which is relevant to this forum and that I found interesting is this: On the site there is a list of paint codes for all 2013 Honda models. It says at the top of the sheet all pearl or metallic paints have a clearcoat, but depending on the factory, some solid colors have a clearcoat and some do not.

It does not specify on this particular sheet which colors or factories this applies to.

I do not know why, but I find this somewhat interesting that even today there are still colors and cars without clearcoats.

Its most likely one of their whites. I think some Toyotas has SS whites as well.

How can Honda be in the year 2013 with no clear coat on some of their colors? Thats a bit absurd if you ask me. (BTW im a painter)

Good find but it could also be Rallye red too, its non-metallic as well. About 6 yrs ago I was waxing my buddy's then 4 yr old EV0 VIII and noticed my pad turning red, I was VERY surprised!

Judging from past years San Marino Red is SS as was Taffeta White. That particular white is no longer offered but the red still is. Same with Toyota "Super" white.

Absurd or not that's the way it is! Live and learn.

I have a 2009 Rallye Red Civic Si and it has clear.

Ahh good ole Taffeta white....that was a good color, as far as whites as concerned. That Toyota Super White though....those things oxidize like it's nobody's business. I dislike when one comes through the shop for a wash and wax, as it needs way more than that.

I also heard that Honda is using SS but I wasn't sure if it were true. Couldn't understand the reason why they didn't place clear coat on the paint.

Anyway thanks for the information Jaret, and the service express website is really a good find for Honda car owners (like myself)
