Hey all,

this year i will will be in the market for a new hose nozzle. The one I have now is kind of worn out. I say that not because it leaks, but because everytime I put it down the setting changes to halfway between two settings. It's is annoying and well, time for a new one. I see some like the Griots one for $100 and others for $5. Is the really expensive ones really worth the money?

thanks

This Orbit nozzle I got at Wally World has been phenomenal. I’ve had it for at least 6 months and it still works like new. No leaks. It’s on right now in this picture, just the dial on the top has it shut. This thing is solid! I only paid $10.

I went through so many lame nozzles before I bought this 1.

I bought a Gilmour one last year and like it.

I have thought about buying an Eley one after seeing it in one of OrangeVee’s videos. It’s nice and compact but a bit pricey.

Oh, and does yours have a screw on the face of the dial. If so just tighten it up.

I have one made by Ikris that has a thumb control for the water flow. I wouldn't want to go back to the hand control ones.

I would say you'd be hard pressed to justify a $100 nozzle. Griots is a great brand but I often question their pricing as I find it to be generally higher than other quality brands.

This 1 does have a thumb dial, just like I described in my post.

Some Gilmours have a lifetime warranty. I broke the section where the garden hose connects. Emailed them some pictures of it and they sent me a whole new one free of charge.

I might go with the thumb control next time.

I couldn’t decide when I bought that one and they offered both styles.

The Gilmour I posted has the click on/click off trigger so it’s either on or off, no in between.

That’s been fine. The only place I might want to be able to adjust the flow would be rinsing door jams, but I normally just rinseless wash them if they are not super nasty.

I was really tired of breaking the ones that were make of plastic. The Gilmour has held up well against my abuse.

Edit: Sorry, I’m not bashing the plastic one posted above. That looks reasonably stout with little to break. I’m talking about the regular old squeeze style ones, even the metal ones of those break fairly easy if you drop them.

I was tired of the cheap, leaking and cumbersome sprayer for years. Purchased an Ely sprayer and it's awesome.

Yep. ^ That’s the one I was talking about in my first post.

Is there much adjustment with the cleaning nozzle?

I've had a bunch of turret nozzles over the years and I haven't liked any of them!

RE: Hose Nozzle (REVISITING)
i know this thread is old but I'm gonna ask you guys (and gals) if you are using a hose nozzle now that you would recommend. Bought 2 different name brnad ones lately and both either leak or spray terrible.

In my opinion, there is no perfect hose nozzle.

If you have 40 psi at the end of your hose, you're doing better than most, and will think better of a certain nozzle than the guy with 25 psi.

Couple that with the fact that no nozzle is needed to properly rinse a car/truck if you use the flooding technique, and I find the "Nozzle debate" kind of trivial.

JMO..........

I forgot about this thread.

I'm still using the thumb controlled sprayers - wouldn't go back to the trigger style. Just get a good quality one.

Oh, and get a quick disconnect system. That way you can go sprayer to flood to foam gun to... no problem.

I'm a fan of the old school brass twist nozzles. They have the best spray pattern and infinite adjustability. Just have to remove it flood the paint, but that's not much of an issue.

The only real downside is they are almost always all metal. You have to be careful and keep your distance to avoid any accidental contact with the car.

I use a fireman’s nozzle from amazon and like it. Doesn’t leak at all and is great for car wash to watering plants

I’m still using the same Orbit nozzle I bought 2.5 yrs. ago and it still sprays good but I’m probably going to replace it soon because the thumb lever has become really hard to turn off/on. After 2.5yrs. there’s a minimal leak but overall I’d highly recommend it. I’ll probably buy another 1 exactly like it.

That Orbit nozzle has impressed me so much that when it came time to upgrade the hose situation for the backyard just recently, I went with another Orbit product, this time a wand. It’s made of metal, feels solid, and just as expected there’s no leaks.

I’ll probably never look elsewhere when it comes to hose nozzles. And they’re really not expensive either.
