Tried grey clay bar, did not do a thing. WD40, wont help. Thinking to get a purple clay bar, anyone tried a purple one and successfully removed the hard baked white dots from tree saps? How deep can a purple one can cut; or color sand is a must? Thanks

It does not sound like you have tried a dedicated 'tar remover' type of product like Tar X or Tarminator... that may be a good place to start.

Sanding sounds quite extreme for a tree sap issue... remember, always start with the least aggressive method first.

Oh thanks. Is tar remover stronger than purple clay bar?

:iagree: Try one of those and if they don't work, lacquer thinner will take even heavy blobs of tree sap off very quickly and is way less aggressive than sanding. Just be careful to keep it away from rubber and plastics.

Thanks again. Would "lacquer thinner ' eat clear coat? I assume "lacquer thinner ' eat wax?

If you soak a rag with it and rub the paint for extended periods of time yes it can remove some clear. If you dampen a towel in a small area and work quickly with it it's nothing to fear. It is a very strong solvent so it should be used with respect and common sense. Wet sanding definitely eats clear coat and probably much more than lacquer thinner would.

The guys here hate it when I mention it or recommend it but it works very quickly for the problem you are dealing with.
