Here's the deal- I'm having a heckuva time searching out a pressure washer that's hot water compatible without it's own heating unit.

I understand that cold water pumps will not handle hot water very long before the seals give out. So I'm looking for a hot water pump and motor that I can run a hose to from my own hot water tank. Sounds simple right? heheheheh!

No such luck finding one yet.

Anybody got any suggestions? Thanks in advance guys!

I've never seen one.Why do you want one any ways?I have been detailing for years and never had a use for one.

As luck would have it my girlfriend found one today. It's a Northstar 157300E for 150 bucks at a resale shop. Awesome find! Will accept up to 140 degree water, has a chemical injector, and practically brand new.

As for why, I have found that greasy road grime comes off much easier with hot water rather than cold. The less degreaser and acid I have to use on wheels and tires/ wheel wells, the better. RV's and boats (gelcoat type surfaces) clean much better hot.

Sure, cold water cleans just fine too. Call it personal preference. ;)

Does it heat up the water for you or do you add hot water? I use P21s and don't have to use very much to get any kind of grim off.

If money isn't an issue, check out Landa products. I used the diesel heated and electric pump pressure washer. Put out really, really, really hot water.

This one accepts hot water, but doesn't make it's own. Those get very spendy. It's exactly what I was looking for. I plan on running a hose from my hot water heater to it, so I don't need it to make it's own hot water.

Thanks for the help guys! :)

Hot water definitely has more cleaning power than cold, especially when dealing with grease, etc.
Try & wash a greasy pot in cold water next time you're doing the dishes...

That said I agree that with the right chemicals & technique it's not a necessity for most detailers. Very handy if you were doing a lot of engine or underbody cleaning.

To OP, it won't matter too much for RVs & boats I suppose but just be aware that hot water is likely to strip or at least weaken a lot of LSPs...

how are you going to heat the hot water heater? it wont take long to drain it out of the heater? hot water heaters arent instant? like a steam cleaner would be?

the reason I am asking these questions is because i tried that.. the way mine went.. it took about 15 minutes and the hot water was gone.. so now you are back to the cold water wash..
yes hot water/steam cleaners are very pricey.. but if that is your goal grease, road film etc.. a hot water wash that is what is going to get the job done for you imho...

you can check out my fb page and see the before and afters of what hot water washes can do for you and your business!!
I have a machine to sell.

I believe he stated that he is going to feed it from a direct hot water connection.
