Seems a little high for a car wash. Do you have a blower or compressor of some sort to get all the water out of the cracks?

Average hand wash in my area is $20. Equal to the bronze above is about $30(car). Normal polish(one step) and wax is around $150(car). But prices are different in different areas. These are detail shop prices not mobile detailers.

i think your bronze package needs an additional service to be worth it. plus u need to describe your services to make them more attractive. because if i am a customer looking at that price, im thinking what am i getting extra that i wont get for $30 at a car wash? they wash, vac, clean windows, dress tires, wipe dash and even some apply dash protection. so if your charging $50 and even $60 if its real dirty, add something that will make it attractive. like this-

: Hand wash (2 bucket method)
:Wheels are cleaned
:Wheel wells cleaned & dressed
:bug and tar removal
: Tires dressed
: Interior is vacuumed and wiped down clean
: Windows Cleaned in & Out
: Quick wax application for brilliant luster
: * an additional fee may apply depending on vehicles condition

you also need additional services like rim sealant, headlight restoration, hand wax, carpet stain removal and trim restoration maybe? And why is bug and tar removal not on other packages? should be..

and i charge more to detail a bike than i do for an express car detail. if you think $50 is enough to detail a bike you must not have done one before. do one then adjust your price accordingly. or you will be working @ $11 an hour.

So many of you guys think that you need different packages. People hate making choices, especially when it comes to something they really know very little about. I never have had different packages. We do offer a complete showroom detail, a exterior detail and a interior detail. This way the customers only decision is what they want done, not a specific level of detail. I just give everyone my best everyday

:iagree: We started out with several packages the customer could choose from our menu. They still could not decide which package to go with, so we changed our menu to just three basic packages: 1- Exterior Only, 2- Interior Only, 3 - Interior/ Exterior Package. If you add the "Only" packages together the cost would equal the Interior/ Exterior Package price. These packages are for cars that need just a little sprucing up. From our menu additional services, we build/ customize a service by starting with one of these packages, as we evaluate their vehicle, we recommend additional service(s) we feel their vehicle needs and explain why. The majority go with our suggests. People look at us as the professional's.

We did a basic time study on how long it took us to do each task on 14 vehicles (broke them up into car/ mini van/ suv & truck) and came up with an average, then mulitplied it by an hourly rate, which helped come up with a fair price for our hard work. We are always watching our time, and tweeking here and there.

How long does it take you to complete the job for each package? The time it takes you will tell you if your pricing is right for you.

Greg

The best way to figure up costs is this:

Take every single individual task and price separately before putting it into a package.

To do this, try and give an experienced estimate of everything that goes into each part of the process:

1. Come up with a minimum rate you feel your time is worth. Add if your service is mobile.

2. Estimate the most amount of time it will take to complete each task.

3. Add the cost of product used, times two.

4. Take that total and add about 10-15%.

For example:

I am just starting out, so I think $12 is a fair amount for my time. $12/60min.=$0.20 a minute.

Cleaning wheels takes at most, 5 minutes with 4oz. of ARO.
5 min.= $1 4oz. ARO=$1.25(x2=$2.50)

labor + product = $3.50 + 10%(of $3.50)=$3.85

I am not so sure everyone hates making choices. People can tend to be cheap (maybe not everyone's favorite customer) and if they can save $5 on something they will try.

It does make sense to offer simple packages but be ready to tailor it when asked.

What you need to do is figure out how much money you want to make a hour.
Per car product cost is very cheap so when you price out based on time all you need to do is add a small percentage for products.
Some work is harder than other, so add a premuim to your regular hourly rate to those items that are really hard or you dislike doings.

You did to determine how long each project takes and price according to the rate you want.

You do not what to work too cheap. This is hard work. You can get $ 7.50 an hour or more at Wendy's.

Thanks everyone for the help. Im going to fix the packages and prices. I went with packages because its so easy they just tell me what one they would like.

:iagree:its a simple theory really. People who dont make lots of $ and just want their daily car detailed because maybe, the wife is making them because of a newborn baby for example, will want choices to save $ imo. people with $ and unconditional love for their ride will appreciate choices to pamper their baby with. again, imo. and people with money who just want their daily driver looking new and clean, might not want so many choices. they just want to geter done without putting any effort into it, since they dont care about saving $10-$20 and they dont really baby their cars. And women, they never like to or can make choices. especially on something they know nothing about, like detailing. (< no pun intended, exclude all autogeek women too):dblthumb2:
