How do I eliminate rust on brake hubs and calipers?

I’ve noticed that my hubs/hates and calipers on my Acura TLX are starting to rust. I’ve researched previous threads but they seem to be a couple years old hence the new topic.

First off, what is the best method and preferred product to eliminate the rust as well as preventing it from returning.

Second, since I’ll be pulling the wheels off the car I might as well coat the wheels, I’ve always been a fan of Sonax so I’m considering theirs but very open to everything else (sorry carnauba gods), any recommendations?

Third, I’m entertaining the idea of painting the hub/hat and calipers. If I do decide to paint them I would probably paint them black or silver, nothing that would stand out, but a subtle enhancement. I would appreciate your input as I’m typically very conservative and have never thought about doing it until now! I’ve seen that G2 is very popular online but again I’m completely clueless when it comes to this!

Thank you in advance for your input!

Jay

If you paint them, they will just rust through again unless treated first, Jay.

Google Ospho. :)

That's just a temporary fix.
You need to do it before every wash.
•IMO:
-Spritzing these brake system components
with this anti-rust product once or twice a
month, as part of the car-washing process,
doesn’t create an insurmountable obstacle.

•Kinda reminds me of folks that are
in the habit of spritzing a “drying aid”
as part of their car-washing sessions:
-Isn’t that also a temporary fix, as it were?

I doubt seriously that it can be eliminated. Temporary removal is a more real approach.

Just my opinion, but I've seen calipers/hats in worse shape that were sanded and then painted with G2 and similar products that looked fine. Not sure on longevity. I think silver would look nice.

Clean up the rust on the caliper and on the rotor hat and get yourself the G2 caliper paint kit in the color of your choice. Unfortunately the rotor face is going to rust as its exposed metal.

Hyde's will not remove the rust and it does an ok job to stop the rust after a wash on the rotor.

I use Hyde’s and it works ok as far keeping rust off the face of the rotors drive it more.
