I had everything masked off but still managed to get some on it and it is a bugger to clean.

Thanks,
Chris

All Purpose Cleaner and an old toothbrush or cheap peanut butter. Work it in till gone.

I looked into the same question a while back, since I've found APC to be a hit or miss solution. This Pre-WOW product was specially formulated for removing wax and polish residue:
Pre-WOW Pre-Cleaner by Black WOW, black wow trim cleaner

I haven't tried it yet so I'm not recommending it per-se, but I plan to try some, and probably the Black WOW product as well.

Just something to consider....

I have found Black Wow Trim Cleaner to work great! But an APC will work pretty good as well.

Can you imagine what a bugger it would be to clean if you had not masked everything off?

Man I tell, you buffing out the 1965 Mustang Fastback was pure job because there was zero plastic trim to worry about or mask off.

A BobbyG trick I have applied: Mineral Spirits and tooth brush.

Being new to detailing, I lifter my PC off the car before letting go of the trigger. I got polish everywhere. I wiped it down, and didn't see the stains until it dried overnight. MS and toothbrush worked very well (and cheap!) but careful you don't overdo it, I killed the finish in one spot.
