I would like to wash my synthetic chamois with a little woolite soap and water, and I was wondering if that is OK to do, or will it hold on to the soap and the soap will never get rinsed out of it? I rinse it out with water every time I use it, but the water that gets rung out of it is always dirty. How do y'all clean your chamois towels?

Gosh, I haven't used a chamois in over ten years. I've forgotten how I cleaned it back then, sorry.

"Synthetic chamois"... you talking about an Absorber or the like? I no longer use mine on cars but I used to just throw it in the washer like anything else with extra rinses. Air dry and they come out like new.

I guess mine is really old then...but it's a black magic chamois, like the Absorber. If that's not how you dry your cars after a wash, what do you recommend to use for drying off the car?

I still use a chamois to dry off my tires. I just wring them out and keep them in a ziplock bag. To clean them, use a mild soap and just make sure to rinse it out really well. For paint, I would seriously consider using a ww. They absorb more and are safer for paint, IMO.

Microfibre waffle weave drying towel.

Unlike a Chamois, a Microfibre Drying Towel is Machine Washable making it a much Safer Alternative. Unlike a Leather or PVC Chamois, No Debris is trapped in the fibres and Microfibre will not harbour Bacteria, especially because it can be washed with an Anti-Bacterial Wash & Dried in the same way clothes are. Unlike a chamois, in a Wash, any trapped debris is easily removed so no reintroduction of that debris occurs the next time you use the Towel.

I use Waffle Weave microfiber after blowing most of the water off. I used an Absorber/Fireman's Friend for years until I acquired a black vehicle. I found I was imparting marks due to the dryer becoming dirty over time. It really isn't practical to wash it after each use the way I do with MF.

Maybe in a dream world that would be true but unfortunately we live in the real world.

Wow, I really didn't think my chamois was marring the paint...that's not good...looks like I need a WW towel for drying. Thanks for the tips guys!!

I love the HD Guzzler. It was on BOGO before last Friday BOGO change.

I used to be an avid user of the Absorber. I switched to the Cobra Guzzler. I have 3 of the Guzzler Combo Kits. No comparison - the guzzler wins hands down. I have used a leather chamois in the past but never liked 'em.

I used to use megs water magnets but now i use one of These drying towels.Quite large at 3ftx 2ft and absorb from dry unlike the water magnets that only seem to work once damp

I have 3 of the blue Waffle Weave drying towels and they are TERRIBLE. They could not soak up water if you stuck them in a bucket full of water.

What kind were they? Are they the Cobra Guzzlers? Maybe not since those are green. Just wondering so I don't purchase the wrong towel...

There is no way he is talking about the Guzzlers. I'm guessing hes talking about the junk ones you can get at the local stores.

Were these the ones that were on BOGO a while ago? If so, they are ABSOLUTELY terrible  and do nothing for drying except push water around. I am glad I only bought one and got the other one free.

I had one of those waffle weaves from Auto Zone. Totally garbage. I used to think all waffle weaves were that way. Heard all the rave reviews that the Cobra Guzzlers were getting and picked up a couple. I now have 3 of the Cobra Guzzler Combo kits. It's hard to go back to the Absorber after using the Guzzler, that's for sure! Sucks up water like a thirsty dog! Best drying towel ever! :dblthumb2:
