I put a sealant on and wait the 12-24 hours but then I get a lot of dust and crap on the car (in my home garage where the kids are always moving stuff around). I'm wondering what you do so that you can put another coat of something on. Do you re-wash or use a QD? I'm almost at a point where I might just put 2 coats of Collinite 476 on right away rather than a sealant and have to wait the 12-24 hours. Then I don't have to worry about the dust issue. I really like the idea of a sealant as the base layer though. Thoughts??????

You can:

a) wipe down with distilled water like a qd

or

b) switch to duragloss 601/105 and not have to wait :)

I feel like to QD will scratch more than a full wash. Am I right or is it virtually the same thing?

You could always give it a rinse less wash with a product like Optimum No rinse. Works great for things like dust and light dirt.

If you have that much dust flying around in the air then why did you not worry when you applied the sealant? Do you have a garage door and a door to your house that you can close? If so then you shouldn't have to worry too much about the dust you're stirring up. Just spritz the thing with some distilled water and gently wipe. If the dust is gritty then you need to wash the surface instead. You're first layer of sealant should provide a slick barrier between the paint and the dust making it easy to remove without causing harm.

Due what makes you feel best ;) Honestly I don't see how it could get THAT dusty sitting in a garage with the door closed overnight ;)

The sealant was applied right after the polish. It was clean. I live near a farm and think I get so much dirt and dust because the wind is always whipping the dirt around. My single stall is usually open for the kids most of the day now that they are home all day. I'm leaning towards washing it in-between layers unless it very very light dust/dirt.

I have the same problem, but I have a car port not a garage. In about an hour the car is covered with dirt. I used Zaino with ZFX in the past, and recently switched to Durgaloss 105 and couldn't be happier. When I reapply I go over the car with an extremely light application of Aquawax. So far so good.

You could pack up the family and move to Bev-er-ly....

Hills that is....:D J/K

I hear there is very little dirt/dust flying around the North or South Poles this time of year---be like back home in MN in the winter time! :)

Clean the dust off your vehicles and then get yourself a good car cover.

Yes I do get less dust/dirt in the winter.....HOWEVER....then it's 20 degrees in the garage and very cold. Nothing cures and I freeze my butt off!!! Not as pleasant as when it's 80 with a cool breeze! ;)

get rid of the kids :-)

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

For the most part dust settles on the horizontal surfaces; hood, roof, and trunk.

Using detail spray and a clean Microfiber towel to remove any dust that may have accumulated overnight well be quick and painless then add any additional layer you desire.

Apparently you have never seen how much dust a farm can leave on a car overnight.

I use a waterless wash when I am I in that situation. Although a wash would not hurt.

If it is indeed that dirty then commonsense dictates a complete wash and dry before proceeding..
