I'm sorry if it sounds like a stupid question but I was curious how to properly hang up a garage banner. Do you guys use nails, thumbtacks, hook or some other item? I would love to hear what you guys used. A close-up picture of the hanging media would help out a lot too!

Thank you so much for your help!

I always try to secure any type of fixture/hanger with wood screws, to a 2x4-6 wall-stud. That is, unless you want to secure a hanger to a ceiling truss instead.

Less risk for pull-out that way...IMO

I use screws with a couple of washers to keep the banner from tearing....:props:

Thanks for the responses guys!!!

Does anyone have a close up picture?

Are your walls drywall or plaster? If so how about some of those 3M Command adhesive hooks?

They make all kinds of different ones for picture hanging/etc. so I would think you could find something for banners....

Thanks for your suggestion Charlie. I actually like your idea because it doesn't puncture the walls. I'll check if they have the small ones. If they only have the big hooks then it might be an eyesore.

BTW, I have drywall. How do you hang yours up?

I had a GReddy banner and an Innovative banner in my dorm room at college. It was painted cinder blocks. I used sticky tack that held for two full semesters and didnt leave crap on the wall after

Here are the pictures:

These are the aluminum tacks I use (they are very long)

Here is how I hang the banner (I wish AutoGeek put a grommet hole in the middle, as you can see I need to re-stretch the top)

And here are the details on the tacks (they are not the highest quality out there, but they work for me)

My walls are solid concrete. A PAIN for hanging anything... First I have to drill a pilot hole with a concrete bit and then I use tapcon screws. Be careful about bending freshly printed banners during the process.

What no Liquid Nails?

For the drywall, those aluminum tacks look perty dang good.

With my luck, if/when the opportunity should arise to have a shop, most of the industrial warehouses I've priced out are either metal or concrete. Since I am not a big fan of metal fabricated buildings (tropical storms, hurricaines, etc...) I'd probably be breaking out the ol' Makita hammer drill and be going the tap-con route.

For drywall there's always Hercules Hooks! (you know, those things aren't half bad?)
