How I machine apply a tire dressing

That's a cool idea, Mike, but I think I'm even more intrigued that you used PNS on tires.

I've been using it on exterior plastic with good results. Have been using on tires for the last 3 cars I detailed.

First I machine scrub the tires to get old dressings off. Then apply the PNS. To be honest, I don't know how well it's holding up because I don't always see my customer's cars down the road.

I did put it on my own car's tires but have not checked to see how it's holding up.

So later today, I'll wash my own car, (novel idea), and check to see how the PNS is holding up on the tires.

Even if the results are just okay but the tires wash up good, that's what I want. I don't like oily tire dressings and I only apply Tuf Shine Tire Coating to the "right" type of tires and my SUV tires don't qualify as "the right type of tires".


I like fast and easy. Durability is a non-issue if I can quickly and easily apply a fresh coat after washing the car.

Very cool. I also liked the PNS as a dressing because any overspray is not a big deal. Easy wipe-up. However, greasy overspray from greasy tire dressings can be a nuisance to clean-up.

Just to note.... when I get overspray on the wheel, I simply massage it over the wheel spokes and outer rim and then give it a final wipe. It only takes a little PNS to coat a wheel and the overspray is the perfect amount. Thus I dress the tires and protect the wheels in one step.


The Maserati has left. The owner, Dominic is taking it to the Maserati dealership for some maintenance. I gave him one of our Do Not Wash Car hang tags and told him sternly,


Show the Service Manager your car. Ask him,


Does it look like it needs to be washed?


The answer is NO. So tell him, DON'T let your car wash or detail guys wash the car. They will ruin the finish. Plus it was just washed and detailed.



Fingers are crossed the Palm Beach Maserati dealership can do a they are requested.

Have Dominic insist that they also write that instruction on the work order. That way they have no excuse and can’t say they forgot. Worked for me.

That was me that posted the question on FB...And thankful that Mike took time to respond . I didn't get to try it the weekend as my wife was gone and I had all the kids by myself. With a 12, 7 and 2 year old they keep me going.
