how many of you are using microfiber pads as a one step?

what brand of microfiber pad, AIO, or polish/compound do you use as well?

I do a lot of one step polishing or compounding using Lake Country 5.5" UltraFiber pads. It depends on the job, the color, the paint hardness, what the customer is willing to spend, etc. which product I use. Most of the time I get the most overall correction and finish using M-105 on jobs where quick and affordable is the key focus.

HD Speed works great as an AIO with these pads and so does DG #501.

I have done a few with the me guitars microfiber finishing pad and m205 and it's a great combo that finishes down really well. I would think you can use Pf 2500 as we'll and get great results

HD apdapt will also be a good one step too from what I understand.

I have done one customers car with the Uber microfiber pad and FG400 and it finished down great for me. they were thrilled with the results and honestly so was I.

It depends on how hard or soft the paint is. IMO you are not going to be able to finish down very soft paint with any type of microfiber pad with any polish or compound.

I tried using MF pads once for a one step but wasn't for me.
Much prefer the foam pads.

I use Meg's MF pads for one steps all the time I use FG400,205 and D300 all them work great for one steps.

Yes on soft paint you can use MF pads and you can use the MF finishing pad on soft paint which works great.

Yep. Finishing pads work great on really soft stuff with products like 205/HD Polish.

That certainly will work but the finishing properties of MF pads are extremely underrated. I have finished many vehicles with MF pads beautifully.

I would like to see pictures please. Just curious! Mf will correct and no doubt make a swirled mess look 100 times better but in my experience foam will correct down to more of a respectable level. Depending on what your clients expectations are, I 9 time out of 10 can get superb results from foam pads as a one step.

Buff and Shine MF pads are nice for one step jobs. Paired up with M205 and Rupes 21 turn great results. Test spot first though!

Depends on what the customer wants; level of correction, gloss level, etc.

Sometimes MF can halo. Usually I use foam though.

I'm not sure how much can this help but this is after one step of compound with Meg`s MF pad. I did not work too hard on the finishing step. (it was a correction)

You obviously dont have much experience with MF pads. You can use them on soft paint with the right product & technique. Sure foam pads are great, I use them as well. However everyone knows you cant compare the correcting ability of an MF pad, especially MF pads from Meguiars. How well the finish turns out depends on the product you use, paint type and technique.

We are talking about a one step. I am well aware that mf in General will level paint then any foam pad. I am stating that when it comes down to the finishing down the paint with no hazing, marring, and a very high gloss level, foam bad surpass mf pads no doubt.

Right, I use M101 with an MF pad often as a 1 step, LSP ready finish. Will this be the case on every soft paint out there? Of course not. Soft paint is relative, and every paint system will vary from car to car regardless of make and model. Just like other experienced members have stated, MF pads can finish down great on soft paint...but not all. I agree with you that for most polishing projects, a foam pad is usually the best choice. However dont disregard what MF pads can do in the right hands.

Ive said it countless times before and ill continue to say it: its all about technique and product selection.
