I'm looking at the Carpro sample pack that includes 10ml of Cquartz. My question for those who have used it, will that be enough to coat an entire car? I'm looking at coating a 2006 Hyundai Elantra. How much are you guys using on an average sized car?

I can do a car that size with 10ml. :props:

Just in case do all the paintwork first before going after the glass or wheels and I think you'll be safe.

2 coats would be tough to get though even if you are careful about how much you apply.

1 coat is better than none though :)

Thanks, Corey! Is 2 coats recommended? If so, how much time do I need between coats? You're supposed to wait 7 days for curing, before washing with soap. Does this mean I need to wait 7 days to apply a second coat of Cquartz?

Maybe I'll go for the 30ML kit that comes with Iron X and Reload. Then I should be able to comfortably do two cars; wheels, glass, and all.

Mark, 2 coats is recommended by CarPro but many people only do one (or so it seems like from the posts I read).

But no, you do NOT have to wait long to apply a second coat. 1 Hour minimum wait time after buffing off the first hazed coat.

Thanks again, Corey. I didn't think many were two-coating Cquartz, but I think I saw Oakes Detailing put 3 or 4 coats on one car, which made me wonder.

I used approx. 50-ml to do the wife's Jetta. I did a full 2 coats on the wheels, and paint. I think you could coat the paint with 1 coat with 10-ml but it could be pushing it if you apply it heavy at all. Also I don't think you would have enough to do the wheels or glass.

Wow, Troy, that's a vast difference from what Corey posted. By Corey's comment that 10ml should be enough to do the paint on that car, which is probably about the same size (or smaller) as your wife's Jetta, then I would say another 5ml would be used for the glass and wheels. Double that for a second coat and you're at 30ml. You used 50ml, so did you by chance lay it on thick or am I just underestimating how much glass/wheel surface there is?

I did apply it think on the wheels as I was perfecting my application technique as well as because I had 2 30-ml bottles for my application. I also coated the front and back side of the wheels with 2 full coats to ensure full coverage and better durability.

On the paint I applied a few drop to the MF Suede applicator and spread it as thin an even as possible. But once the applicator got grabby or I didn't see the CQ being spread on the car I would re-load the applicator. I wasn't going to apply it too thin and risk poor coverage or durability. I had planned from the beginning on doing a full 2 coat application.

I don't doubt that Corey and others may be able to coat the paint of a small-medium car with 10-ml of CQ. But I also know that he has had quite a bit of time and many applications under his belt with these coatings. I believe I now could re-coat our cars paint with only using 10-ml. But I am not convinced I could get the wheels and glass out of the same 10-ml.

Part of this will also be determined on the temperature and humidity during application. These can change the flash time and how well the product is spread / applied. These environmental factors are going to vary greatly for each person effecting the amount of product used.

Excellent advice Troy!

I don't think Troy and I are too far off. I was saying that you could get one coat on all the paint of that car for sure with 10ml But Troy is absolutely right, you couldn't be wasteful if you wanted to achieve that. It spreads so thin it's easy to use more than you could get away with.
