How Much Polish to Use?

Just picked up Menzerna SIP and Nano, and some 5.5" pads for my G110, and was just wondering how much polish to use on a panel, say, the size of half a hood. Would an X across the pad be too much?

I can't find it now but I thought I read that with Menzerna you should use just a dime size amount once the pad has been worked. I conditioned a new pad with a spritz of distilled water then added a slightly larger amount of polish But from then on I used the dime sized suggestion. I used that last year and seemed okay. Now I don't know if Pinnacle requires more polish or does Menzerna require that large round circle too for each new area on the car?

I've found that with Menzerna Powerfinish, it doesn't require near that much, but I get dusting pretty quickly. Does that mean that I'm not using enough? I've also overapplied the polish before, and it doesn't seem like it ever gets worked in enough to get hazy like that. I'm just trying to find that "right" amount to use.

I only use about a quarter size amount on the vette C C cllear coat if your using a Porter Cable it will take longer for the SIP to break down it should look like an oily haze if your using a rotary it breaks down faster .The SIP needs more heat too break down the other polishs. When i used it on my PC i had to set it around 5 too 6 to get it too start breaking down on my rotary about 1200 RPM.Hope this helps some

Adam pretty much nailed it. You only need a small amount of Menzerna, just put two dime size amounts on your pad of choice and work till it is transparent and has oily streaks through it.

Excellent! I'll have to try that sometime this week on my dad's black Jetta TDI. Thanks for the help!

Harley and Asphalt answered your question, but if it's dusting to quickly, you can spritz the pad with water or use couple of pea size OP with the Menz. OP has a long working time.

I might have to pick up a bottle of that too. Haha I've spent almost $600 in the last month on car stuff.

Thats barely a tin of wax for me. I don't think you need to the optimum, you might have not used enough Menzerna from the start.

Are you using Swissvax or what?!

I've got Souveran paste and Fuzion, and I blew half my budget on those two alone.

is quick detailer also good to spritz the pad with?

according to TOGWT do not use a quik detailer to extend or prime a pad, as "most qd are formulated with either a wax or a polymer." for more insight do a forum search for menzerna methodology.

so just use some water, just got done reading both methodologies. thank you guys
