Hello and hope everybody doing great,

Just need a little advice from people who's been doing/offering ceramic coatings in their detail shops or mobile. I'm just trying to figure out how much I should charge for ceramic coatings in my area. I'm not a full-time detailer and I don't have a shop, I have a great job and just trying to grow this detailing business out of my passion so one day I could allow people who like to do the same thing. Anyways, my range for ceramic coating just the paint is from $1200- $2500 (6-year, 8-year, and 10-year coating). I do offer glass, interior, and wheel face coating and that would be extra.

I'm certified with System X and stand behind their quality. My business mentor is the person who ceramic coated high-end cars in my area, so as far as the quality of ceramic coating, I'm confident about that. The area that I live is a high-income area so charging high should not be a problem, but I don't know how high should I go. My goal is not to make the money for myself, but eventually, after getting enough consistent customers, I'd like to hire a couple of team-memebrs with great pay higher than anywhere else so they actually provide exceptional service for my clients.

I'm open to any advice related to pricing. Thank you.

No I'm not from future. Look for System X Max and Diamond SS, it's not from future, it's present!

Do you have any pictures of cars that are 10 years old? That would be very helpful in selling a coating that lasts 10 years. And charge what your mentor gets.

I mean I'm not asking any of my clients to send me a picture of their cars in 10 years, but let me explain this way. For any coatings that I sell, I'd hand out all the requirements for them to follow to keep their coatings in the best condition ( such as wash bi- weekly, hand- wash, ph soap, etc).

Now, the coating that I use, for you have a 6-year, 8-year, or 10-year, every year you have to get a top coat so that pretty much keeps the coating in a great condition.

I guess it depends on the client what coating they want, if they pick the 10 years, then that's the best one, if they pick 8 years, the second best one, and the last 6 years.

Look for System X Max and Diamond SS

I can look in one hand and chit in the other and see which gets filled first....I personally am calling Bullshit......good luck to ya

I understand and respect that! I have them on my personal cars and pretty much use them as a model for my clients. One of my cars I coated it 3 years ago and the paint looks as good as day one. Do I take care of my car? absolutely. Do I follow the requirements to keep the coating in a great condition? absolutely.

I don't think I'd keep my car for the next 10 years but I'm pretty sure whoever takes over my car next, as long as they do the same thing, the coating will last.

I think the big question is...is it really lasting that long.

If you are top coating it once a year whos to say that in 6-10 years its just the top coat and og base layer coating is gone?

This is the problem i have with some coating manufactures....itll last all these years! Bullshit...because just like you said ya gotta top coat it every year to keep it fresh.

You show me 6year coating with no toppers just straight coating, with proper quarterly decons and minimum a bi weekly maintance wash. If it looks damn close to day one, then maybe id concider it legit

You're absolutely right and I'm with you. and yes I do not sell my customers as " oh you get one coat and it will last forever" I'd tell them you have to maintain and get a top coat recommended by the brand of coatings, and as long you do that, it will stay"

Same as you said, I don't think there is any ceramic coating product in the market yet that lasts forever without a top coat or something.

So your saying your pricing that is listed in the OG post....thats just for the coating application process?
If so i dont even wanna ask what an average one step paint correction would cost

Yes, the top coat is only $200-$400 depending on the size so it's not as expensive as the actual coating process.

and I do not offer one step unless a customer wants me to do a paint enhancement I'd do it, but I don't offer paint correction because I work with new vehicles only.

I am so out of the loop I actually had to go to a reputable detailing shop's website and see how much they charged for a coating

This guy is up there with the big boys, and is asking if he should go higher?

I am in the wrong line of work

didn’t get that. Are you talking about me or your guy in your area?

Top guys in my area charging $7000 plus for coating, correction, and like wheels off coating so I guess depends on the area too! And I’m not talking about average shops, I’m talking about reputable shops.

My friend worked in finance @ Toyota and in those days they referred to it as sealant. And it was 99% pure commission. So the bottom line here is if you can get someone to pay upwards of 7K and sleep good at night all power to you:nomore:

I mean I'm not anyone to judge, but that's why your friend was working in finance and not running a business. You go to a high-end detail shop and tell them ceramic coating is the same as a sealant and just look at their reaction! If I drive a Lamborghini and want to get PPF and Ceramic coating for it, I'd find the most expensive shop and give it to them, not to a guy from the Facebook market place. I'm not saying is bad to be cheap, but like for me. I'm sure the shop that charges 7k plus for coating and everything spends alot of time on the car and making sure it's perfect and when he/she gets home, sleeps great at night after all the work.

Read the post before you JUDGE "in those days they referred to it as sealant " This was 20 years ago probably before your time.
