i am fiarly new and learning a lot form Autogeek. Thanks to all. i have recently started using a PC by many recommendations from others. how often should you change a pad? this maybe a stupid question, but using the PC is new to me. thanks.

well mthron there is nothing wrong with that question. Youll get alot of different answers on this, but if you are really going to be professional about it, you should change your pad every time you move to a different panel of the car. Or on the other hand, you can go wash and dry the pad between polishing the panels. This takes a bit longer, but you get the idea haha

The thing about changing your pad is, once that pad becomes overly saturated with polish, you almost lose your pads ability to cut, and also even risk putting more marks into the paint.

AudiTTman, your ar looks fantastic. just out of curiosity what kind of polish do you use to get your paint looking so flawless? i also have a black car and i am in the process of trying to get it to look flawless as well.

It depends on the polish, but usually 3-5 pads per polish. If it is a 3 step polish then it would be about 15 pads.

Hey thank you very much. Well as a fellow black car owner, you know how hard it is to keep clean. I was lucky to get that picture because 4 minutes later it was dirty again hahah.

For me, I use my favorite Menzerna Polishes. I also use 4-star Ultimate Paint Protection and Pinnacle Sig Series II wax.

What kind of vehicle do you own. Different makes tend to have different clear coats so maybe we can help you out in choosing the perfect polishes for you and and the car

i have always been a Zaino fan but i am always open to other things. i have an 06 mustang GT coupe. it is black everything with two cilver racing stripes running down the middle if that helps. any suggestions is much appreciated.

I just did a black 05 with acid rain. I used M105, M205, and Ultrafina topped with Wolfgang sealant. The customer and other clients of the shop I was working at said it looked like glass. I will post pics of it tomorrow, camera is still at the shop since I have a few others to do.

+1 !!!!!!!! awesome combination!

Hey guys, I don't get it..., if you are supposed to use more then 1 pad then why do you only get 1 pad when buying all the various "PC kits"?

That is one of the reasons I stay away from the kits. With many of them you end up with stuff you will never use.

I picked up my UDM last year and it came with a 6" white pad that I have never used. I picked up a bunch of Lake Country CCS 5.5" pads instead.

I go through 3 to 4 pads per step.

i thought the same thing, but i guess its just to start you off with what products go with what for the new users. plus the kits are targeted to newbies, as a well seasoned detailer will know what products to get from the get go.

I usually use two like pads per detail, for instance, ill bring 2 yellow for compounding and 2 orange for polishing. Once one pad gets drity I usually clean it and switch to the other one, and then do the same when that gets dirty, its a lot eaiser to clean the pads when there just been used, takes a little longer, but overall makes the detail easier, to risked of more swirls, and most of all no annoying dust to have todeal with.

can you tell me on the mustang finish, did it seem like it took quite a bit longer for the polish to break down? i started my stang last night and it just seemed like it took a long time.

its megs 105. i am still getting the hang of some of these so i may have been using to much.

That could be what it is. Keep playing with it and you will find your sweet spot.
